Cowart's Common Room

Just heard that M & S are selling their 30 Champagne for 10 - but people are limited to two bottles. It is selling out fast. Perhaps worth checking out if you live near a big store (which of course many of us don't).Very Happy

Arosebyanyothername's Avatar Some of us do but are far too busy. Went last week in search of 2.00 organic chickens. All gone.
If you are going get us a bottle. Ta.

Faith's Avatar We are going to M and S on Sunday to buy Bill some shirts, Bet theyve sold out by then.

Frances's Avatar How can M&S manage such a huge discount? Was the champagne really worth 30 pounds to begin with?

Milla's Avatar Ooh, thanks for that. Will be driving past a food one in 20 mins or so. Will nip in and see if any left. Hic.

Fennie's Avatar Frances, it's a promotion - a loss leader. They probably lose a few pounds on every bottle they sell but consider it worthwhile to bring new customers into the store. They probably were overstocked as well.

Milla's Avatar All gone at ours by half nine apparently. Settled for a packet of croissants. Not the same!

Frances's Avatar Thanks Fennie, that was what I figured. And now, we have Milla's croissant purchase to prove the theory. (Milla, of course, you'd have driven to M&S to get those croissants even without the bubbly offer.)

Hmmm. Wishing that I had either champagne or croissants in the apartment. xo

Westerwitch's Avatar Milla? croissant? Why are you buying croissant.

Our M&S is a two hour round trip away so we didn't bother. Bet the store was heaving though and now people will be checking all the time to see if they do another reduction and buying things whilst they are in there . . Very clever.
