Cowart's Common Room
WHERE BE THE OWLS?

'Tis well past the Owling hour.

Bear (who has just finished doing supper dishes) was looking forward to an amiable chat with other owls, having first encountered, and been terrified by, a snarling witch of a Headmistress. (That's an ominous sign if ever there were one!)

But, hark: no Owls. (Perhaps because of the post just prior to this one, which may have scared everyone away?)

So, let's check the list:
> Deerstalker hat? Check.
> Magnifying glass? Check.
> Binoculars? Check.

Thus prepared, Miss Sadie and I are off in search of Owls. If you're an Owl, and happen to arrive before we return, a few loud "Hooooots" should bring us back promptly. Otherwise, natter away to your heart's content. The Purple Coo will be glad of your company.

Good, Frances; see you presently. (We were looking at the same time, it appears.)

And "Good Evening" to Chief Camilla. I mean Chief Owl, Camilla.

Re:
Camilla's Avatar Good Evening Bear.!

Thank you kindly, have just been writing out my Christmas List, it gets longer by the minute, lots of letters wrote out too this evening.

A sad day later this afternoon, my husband's cousin's son's funeral in Herefordshire.

Hope to see you later Bear and perhaps more owls before lamps are turned out.

Re:
Oh, dear, Camilla. So sorry to hear of the funeral this afternoon. Neutral

Hope your letter writing is going well. Mine would be either e-mail or letter printing. My handwriting is atrocious (lots of days I can't even read it)! Which is why it's good that I can type!

Re:
Camilla's Avatar Hello Bear, Chief CamillaSmile love your wit.

I am very happy for the William and Kate, think they are well suited, such a shame that William's mother Diana could not see the day of marriage, thought it was a beautiful thought of William to have given Kate his mother's engagement ring.

Re:
Weather this evening; snowing, -7C (19F), but the wind chill brings it down to -14C (or about 7F).

NO self-respecting Bear would be caught this time of the year; we should all be hibernating by now. Trust the human side of my character to get me into this spot.

Re:
Oh my; William gave Kate Diana's engagement ring. Hope that isn't an ill omen! (Nice of Charles to share that with William, though.)

Re:
Frances's Avatar Bear and Camilla, how grand to be here with you all this evening, after our various near misses.

Bear, my handwriting was once fairly good, not pretty, after all I am left-handed, and can't do proper cursive, but I did have my style. Lots of typing has really done its best to make me want to write more quickly, and that is what is messing up my handwriting. Still, when I've got time and feel relaxed, I can still manage to be legible.

Camilla, you are so far ahead of me if you are making Christmas lists. I am still trying to do my bit in making some gifts, and painting my cards.

Meanwhile, I have been listening to the BBC London radio to hear more about Edward and Kate. How come this took so long?

Tonight's pasta is pretty good. xo

I'm off to the medicine cabinet. I've done something to my back again.

Grr@$#%$^%&&rrr!

Another ill omen, of a different sort.

Re:
Camilla's Avatar Thank you Bear for your kind thoughts.

I love writing, there's no stopping me...... I remember when I had to write out a composition for english at school, I was in my element.! Sadly my blogs and short stories and Poems have been neglected of late, things here at home seem to get in the way of my creativity. Moons ago I would write out stories by long-hand before access to computers, now so much easier with the MicroWord.

Re:
P.S.: Off to the medicine cabinet because we're totally out of Scotch (which is kept for medicinal purposes only!). I wouldn't want you to get the wrong idea about the Bear. (But perhaps you know better already.)

Sigh.

Re:
Back when I was doing my broadcast training, we had to be able to type 35 words a minute. Though I was self-taught, I was just good enough that I didn't have to take the typing course. Left me more time for other, more important things, like television production.

This back nonsense it becoming bothersome. I'm going to lie down on an ice pack, and see if I can get this under control.

Will have to say, "Bye for now." Hope to catch you tomorrow night.

Re:
Camilla's Avatar Hello Frances,

Hope you don't mind me mentioning that it is Prince William that is to marry Kate, it has been said that Kate will probably be known as Princess Catherine, they are to set up home in North Wales, speculation is that the wedding will probably take place at Westminster Abbey.

They have been courting for about 8/9 years, perhaps William as being a Royal thought it best that they wait until they were certain, so many other Royals have gone through divorces, and as Kate will be the future King's wife it is not something they probably did not wan't to rush into, as much as they loved each other.

Those lists that I have made up Frances still need to be bought, I do like to know in advance perhaps what I have in mind for everyone.

Love Pasta Frances.!

Oh no!..... poor Bear, he has done his back in, do hope all will be well.

Re:
Camilla's Avatar Look after that back of your's Bear, Bear needs to get fresh supply of Whiskey, very good for medicinal purposes.!

I went to College in London to do my RSA Typing Secretarial, happy to say I passed with flying colours, although my typing speed now is a tad rusty.

Night Night Bear, hope you get a good nights sleep.

Re:
Frances's Avatar Bear, I so hope that you can rest that back, and that you'll soon be able to be "back" to full strength.

Camilla, what what I thinking? Edward??? Let me plead, not for the first time, long day at the shop. Wills!

Let's hope that he and Kate will be able to have a happy life together, so different from all the recent royal marriages. Wonder, though, how much of the British subjects are willing to pay for the big wedding, if they individually, are losing their jobs.

I will have a very early start tomorrow morning on my very own job. We will be bringing the new December collection on to the sales floor. Will be heading in the direction of the land of nod soon. xo

Re:
Puffin's Avatar Dear Bear,
So good to see you.
The bride to be has a lovely smile-I think our prince is a lucky man and his Mother would aprove,as he seems more like his Dadand needs a firm hand.
I think she will hold her own.
D. was just too sweet to cope with it all.
I love the idea of the ring.
Great way to end the year-about time,I say.

Hope your back is better soon and speak of spelling,I am the worst,as to the Scotch--any time after noon--is the right time for a little nip.

Yes missed you all again-Better luck tomorrow night.
Sweet dreams-sleepy myself after a busy day.
xx
