Cowart's Common Room

I know I've said this in the comments to the Names post below but here's a bit more. We've really been voting in some incredible code as if we've been overcome by collective serendipity.

The house names, you see, spell WAND (Woozlestar, Amethyst, Nightshayes and Doveswing). Which is quite remarkable, isn't it, seeing this place is Cowarts?

Then amongst the houses there are two that are Pom-dit-dits and two Pom-dits. Thus Woozlestar-Nightshayes - gives a pleasant soothing sound, as does Amethyst-Doveswing. They are the sort of sounds that you might associate with places in an Agatha Christie novel. "Amethyst Doveswing," said Miss Marple, thoughtfully - isn't that where poor old Colonel Mustard was killed by the fake Vicar and the lead piping? I must pop over and take a look. I'm staying at Woozlestar Nightshayes as a guest of the Brigadier and it's only just over the hill.

Not only this but even the initials of our rejected names are interesting, forming as they do LHR (Lavender, Heliotrope, Rumpleteazer) and GPS (Grimalkin, Plum and Stillwaters). So if you fly a lot you can think of Purple Coo when you come into Heathrow and if you sail or have Sat Nav then you can say to yourself, that this only works thanks to Grimalkin the cat, Plum the fairy (or is it the sinister Plum from Cluedo? - perhaps when the Sat Nav goes wrong!) and Stillwaters - that one is for our sailors quaking in their wellies like Chris. Cats in both, now I come to think of it.

Personally I liked Upper Loco which is (though did everyone recognise it?) an anagram of Purple Coo and an anagram for us. A higher form of madness. Not a good name for a dog though. But the name will do for a parrot. We must have a parrot in the school to whistle up the Labs and to call 'Walkies' when they are snoozing on the lawn. And no, Rosie, we don't really want a Staffie Evil or Very Mad

Westerwitch's Avatar Very interesting observations Fannie . . .

And yes it does look as though the houses will be voting for which type of dog they would like . . .

Ivy's Avatar errr could there be a house WITHOUT a dog? the one at home is hairy and smelly enough. I am sure Milla would like to share the house with me as would Jane.

Arosebyanyothername's Avatar Yes! We DO want a Staffie - stamps foot - and I hope you were learning your lines when you were messing about with initial letters. We have a rehearsal later.

Milla's Avatar Very wise, Ivy. And not just dogs, no ghastly birds or cats or anything that needs brushing or worming or venting in mine please!

Westerwitch's Avatar You will need to have some sort of house mascot . . . a goldfish perhaps - anyway we are a little way away from that. Will need to get you all sorted first.

Ivy's Avatar How about a wild deer as House animal for those who do not want a pet (Milla it would be too shy to bother us) or a stuffed bird in a glass cage ( only needs dusting once a week)Mr. Green
