Cowart's Common Room
I CAN'T SLEEP CHAT POST

Hello Owls,

Do hope you have had a wonderful weekend, I have been trying to catch up on my reading of books I have here. I have a list of books too that I must order soon for friends and family to pop in their stockings this Christmas.

Have made a cuppa, thrown some more logs on the woodburner, (chilly nights here), off to take a tour of the site. Hope to see you later owls.!

If you can't sleep and there are others on line then have a natter here.

Night Night, & Sweet Dreams.

Re:
Frances's Avatar Hallo Camilla, and Puffin, too!

Definitely not too early for that chaise, or for the Santas gone mobile.

We had a beautiful late autumn day in NYC. Only needed a layering of sweaters when I went out for some errands in early afternoon. I've also been busy working on various Christmas gifts and sketching for my Christmas card design. Hoping to start painting the cards tomorrow morning.

Which books have you been reading, Camilla. I am now skipping through Alexander McCall Smith's The Charming Quirks of Others.

We've missed you, Puffin!

Re:
Camilla's Avatar Thank you Frances,

Love what you have wrote...... Santa's gone mobile..!

Reading Life Class by Diana Athill, a very large book of some 667 pages, half way through so far, recommended by our lovely Tiggy. Have just finished reading The Edwardian Lady - The Story of Edith Holden compiled by Ina Taylor.

Pleased to hear you have had lovely weather Frances, weather here definately calls for warm coat and woolys.

Very exciting about planning those cards for friends of your beautiful water-colours Frances. I saw some pretty little cards in store yesterday that I just had to buy, although there are many more cards I have yet to seek out, just wish I had your talent Frances.

xx

Re:
Frances's Avatar I'll make note of those books, Camilla. How I wish I had more time for reading.

It was great to be able to sleep a bit later than usual today. And to have a long catch up call with my brother.

Many of our trees still have green leaves, but little by little, the colors are turning, and those leaves are falling to the ground. Still a few roses in bloom in front of a house down the block from me.

Re:
Puffin's Avatar I have been reading more of late too.
At present--Reap the Wind by Iris Johansen--

She wrote this one in 1991-A little differant, but holds my attention.

Re:
Frances's Avatar Puffin, I'll write that Johansen book down as well. Gosh, my list of books to read, books already requested at the library, and books piled up right here on my table is pretty impressive.

Re:
Camilla's Avatar Secret Santa is exciting Puffin, very kind of Faith to do it for us too.

Wonderful for you to have longer lie in Frances, you have worked such terribly long hours recently, you deserve a rest. Good too to catch up with your brother, was only thinking that I need to ring my sister in London, but that it a very long story.

Hundreds of leaves on the ground here too Frances, more than ever this year I think, and more bramleys too. The birds are munching on the holly leave berries, hope they leave enough holly for me to pick.! The New Dawn Pink Roses which are a repeat Rose, still bloom a little in the garden here.

Re:
Frances's Avatar Sweet dreams to you, too, Puffin. Hope to share the perch with you again soon.

Camilla, how wonderful that you have got holly in your garden ... do the birds usually grab all the berries? There is a very overgrown holly bush in my Mom's back yard, planted quite a few years ago. It is more like a tree, with lots of room near its central trunk for birds to shelter. So the bush sometimes sorts of sings!

Re:
Camilla's Avatar Yes, the Holly Tree is huge, nestled towards the end of the gardens near the wooded end. To buy Holly here in shops cost 1 a strip, so good to have it growing here, and birds like to shelter in tree too.

Re:
Camilla's Avatar Frances please forgive, have just noticed the time, off to dream land now. Sleep well Frances, lovely for you to have some days off from the shop. Nighty night and sweetest of dreams and to owls hopping on perch later.

Best wishes to our dear Bear who I hope is relaxing well at home with Miss Sadie the Poodle.

See you tomorrow.
