Cowart's Common Room
Vacuous vacuuming

We've had little Theo (now 21 months) with us all day. His big 'thing' now is vacuum cleaners (we have two Dysons because one broke and then we bought another and then we had the first fixed so now we have two). Theo had us bring both out. He likes, not to hoover himself, but to watch you doing it. He's worried about switching the machine on and can't quite manage yet to plug it in. He stands there looking bereft and pitiful until you switch it on. Yet he pulls out the flex and when you are vacuuming he comes along behind pulling the machine for you. 'Button' (to switch the machine on) 'Plug-it-in' and 'Hoover' are all favourite words along with the imperious 'Come!'

There's no escape. He puts bits of the Dyson in your hand, tells you to change the head for the upholstery instrument or vice versa and you have to obey. So that's the productive part of your day gone for a Burton and just to add insult to injury he then does a poo in his nappy making sure the smell is strong enough to compel you to do something about it. Our girls couldn't stand a dirty nappy and complained bitterly. But with Theo it's all in a day's work. Make the grandparents vacuum. I feel like a Roman slave. Being commanded by someone less that two is no fun. Still we have a clean house now.

Ivy's Avatar Reading this makes me really wish to become a grandparen one day. But till then I go on borrowing other people's children. eek what did I borrow a 17 year old for??? Certainly not for hoovering. Something must have gone wrong this time. Feeling like the director of a youth hostel at the moment
