Cowart's Common Room

'Tis Owling time at Cowart's Skool.

Bear and Miss Sadie are eager to meet and greet all incoming Owls. Perhaps even our Chief Owls, Camilla and Frances will arrive. (I'm a bit worried about Frances; she has been working such long hours at her shop!)

Before I go looking for "good things" to display here, a personal word. I have started yet another blog! Posted something yesterday, and again today. But before you get to excited, consider this: the blog is entirely in French! Rolling Eyes

I studied French in high school (before my entrance to University). That was back in the days when one had to have a second language in order to be considered as a university applicant. But that was about 50 years ago. Shocked (Relax, I really am that old; it's no big deal.) I've made some blog friends who are French speakers from way back, some born into French-speaking families. And they have generously agreed to help me. So, a new hobby in my retirement.

Miss Sadie is eager to get going either for a walk through her domain, or in search of Owls. We'll be back, anon.

I had something to tell you, but I can't remember what it is.

Perhaps a nice song would help, like Sarah McLauchlin's rendition of "Ordinary Miracles."

Oh yes, now I remember. No Owls about our place, and none at school, as far as we can tell.

Still, it is perhaps a bit early. All these clock changings are puzzling to a Bear of Very Little Brain, and I'm not really sure of what time it is. I have no idea why humans must engage in this quaint custom, while the rest of creation is guided by the sun and moon. Rolling Eyes Confused

Camilla's Avatar Bonjour 'ours'.!

Le mot hibou ici.

allez vous 'ours'?

un temps pluvieux ici.!

Long time since I brushed up on my french language, have always loved this language and it's flowery sounds.

Always good to have another hobby in retirement I think Bear, good for you.! Look forward to reading your new blog in French.

Enjoy your walks with Miss Sadie later, just going to take a tour of the site and post some cards in the forums, see you later Bear.Uploaded Image

Such a delightful lady you've brought along with you tonight, Camilla.

We had rain yesterday, and snow last night, so one could play le hockey sur glasse on the streets earlier today. Most of that is all melted now, but the remaining water could still freeze, and make the streets terribly treacherous tomorrow morning. I'm not thrilled by that. Today, I got to stay home. Tomorrow I'm expected to be a the University for two meetings; 10:30 ahem and 3:00 p.m. Which means its going to be a long day. (I can feel it already.) Sad

Well, I think I'm going to move along, Camilla. I've been busy writing a newspaper column that's due this week. I'm also involved in the recruitment of a new senior academic at the University, and I want to review his CV again, before we sit down and do the interview tomorrow. (Besides, I have an old back injury which has been acting up for a while, to the point that is becoming a serious nuisance, and needs to get more rest.)

Best wishes to those who come later.

Sleep well, good Owls.

Camilla's Avatar Thank you Bear, yes wet and windy weather here and soooo cold. Cold enough I think for snow almost. Bear must tread very carefully in the morning for those Meetings, we don't want our dear Bear to slip in that ice.

Look after that back of yours Bear, I did my back in at the weekend, so painful I dare not even sneeze.! little better today though. Wondering if perhaps an osteopoath could help relieve your poorly back Bear.

Sleep Well Bear.

Frances's Avatar Oh, no, I have missed my owl friends yet again. And this was sort of an early night. My arrival time will be about the same tomorrow.

Bear, I will surely be visiting your new blog, and also wish that my vintage knowlege of French could have a big refresh.

Camilla, I do agree with Bear that tonight's picture is a true beauty.

Yes. Long hours. However, soon I will be having some time off, and will wake and sleep to my request, not to a clock set to humor an employer.

Sweet dreams. xo
