Cowart's Common Room
Owls ... any fireworks?

Hello to any owls who might be taking shelter from explosions of fireworks from Guy Faulks Night gatherings.

Do owls eat sausages? Are sausages part of the menu for bon fire night?

How I wish I could have been at a bonfire night celebration tonight, instead of finishing up a long day at the shop. I would have been glad to help in creating a Guy.

Seems so quiet on this site day and night. Perhaps some owl pals might land here in a while.

Re:
Frances's Avatar I will leave these questions unanswered.

It's getting later here, and I will have a long day at work tomorrow.

Might miss owls again tomorrow.

Perhaps we'll reconvence on Sunday into Monday night.

Sweet dreams. xo

Re:
Westerwitch's Avatar Thank you Frances - a very quiet Owl Post. We always used to have jacket potato and tomato soup on bonfire night and we would have a box of fireworks which my Dad would let off and the neighbours would do the same and then Dad and I would go for a walk around the neighourbourhood to watch other fireworks.

Re:
Camilla's Avatar Thank you Frances, busy day yesterday with children and fell asleep on that comfy sofa again.!

It has been raining all the time here, still raining now, did light sparklers on bonfire night with grandchildren and we had little sausages and filled a bowl full of sweeties.

Think we will be having a day at home today because of heavy rain, lots of board games and chines meal this evening.

xx

Re:
Fennie's Avatar That's a sad and wee bit lonesome post, Frances. Well, get preparing for next year! Have a look at this website: http://www.meetup.com/NYC-British-Expats/calendar/8450260/ This group have just celebrated Guy Fawkes night in Solas wherever that is (a restaurant I imagine) in NYC. There are pictures and 100 people attended apparently. You could qualify as an ex-pat Briton by virtue of your maternal grandmother family, who must at some point have come from these islands. Besides you are ambassador for Purple Coo in NY which also makes you an honorary Briton. If they make trouble for you tell them I'll bring gunpowder and blow them up.

So get sewing and making a good Guy to go on the bonfire and next year you could be mailing us your stories.
