Picture of the Day - Peppers

Jim grew these. When we bought the little plants in the local market we thought they were going to to be 'proper' peppers - you know the ones you use for Delia's Piedmont Peppers, but they were not. What to do with these. I can use one or two but a whole plateful?

And talking of plants misrepresenting themselves - you remember those free trees you could get from garden centres last autumn? I got a cherry. It led a disturbed childhood. I left it ouside on the garden table all winter where it froze and was nibbled by something. I then transported it down to France where it hung around unplanted until May. Then I found a spot for it on stony ground. It is a Rowan not a cherry.

Fennie's Avatar Well, if I'd been left to freeze all winter, I'd have wanted to run away to France! There's a bad and smutty joke here somewhere about disturbed childhoods and losing cherries. Mind you it might have been a cherry once - a happy cheery cherry - and then found its dryad and become a changeling. Rowans are more of a fairy tree than cherries. In any case, at that age, how can you tell?

Arosebyanyothername's Avatar Yes, they are chillie peppers, Camilla and they are very HOT!. I don't know whether you could use them in a tart. Anyway, I am on the Dukan diet, so can't eat pastry, vegetables or hardly anything . . .

Camilla's Avatar Hi Rosie, yes thought they might be chillies, they are hot hot hot.! are you able to eat chillie con carne with red chillie beans, you could add the chillies too, not all of them, perhaps keep others in fridge until you need them again. Can you eat meat Rosie? you could add the a chillie to some red meat that has been minced and pop some tomatoes in too, serve with some pasta and french bread.

Fennie's Avatar Faddy diets don't work, Rosie. Just eat a normal balanced diet but eat less and exercise more. Then the pounds will come off (Well it's what you'd say to me! And after all the fuss you made about the leeks too!)Very HappyVery Happy
