Look at this little chap. Brian found him next to the compost bin. I was photographing him on a jam jar lid with a 5p for scale... so he (she?) sat on the 5p of course.

Apologies for not being around much - it's been a bit of a busy (and at times stressful - see my blog and the animals forum) few weeks. I've been dropping by, but no time (and feeling too gloomy) to stop and chat.

The little toad is back out by the compost bin now and I'm off for a ten mile run (the half marathon is on Oct 17th). What is everyone else doing today?

Tiggywinkle's Avatar My heart feels for you, having such an agonizing decision to make.
I hope you enjoyed your run. I am going to tidy up my garden. It is a lovely day here to-day. Have to alter the hem of Muffin's dress, and tidy away my sewing. The little toad is cute.

Westerwitch's Avatar Aw bless we have had more little frogs too . . .but just had our first frost so hope they can dig in deep to survive - brilliant place for them though in the compost heap.

So sorry that you are facing such a decision - I have replied to your post in the forum. It is a very different decision with old animals than it is with young ones.

Arosebyanyothername's Avatar I love toads - so here is my contribution to the 'beautiful toads' gallery. Found by Jim this evening in his vegetable patch.

Silverhead's Avatar Was at a lovely lunch to celebrate a Golden Wedding. My husband had been Best Man for his brother's wedding 50 years ago.
It was lovely meeting up with their grown up grandchildren and all us oldies getting together for something other than funerals Rolling Eyes.

We lunched at a restaurant sited right at the waterside at Anstruther, a very picturesque village in Fife.

It was a glorious day, the company excellent, the venue and meal superb.
