Cowart's Common Room
An Interior

Uploaded Image

Here's an interior. Something requested by Frances. I've forgotten now what the exterior was like, but this is the interior. Or at least part of the interior. Perhaps there are other parts. One never knows. One sees a room as one meets a stranger: you see certain things but there is a whole personality lurking behind a door. In this case there's a kitchen. Well, I should say, probably there's a kitchen for I think this is a kind of cafe. In which, incidentally, we didn't stop. We moved on. Not because we wouldn't gladly have partaken of whatever might have been on offer - and here we may note that the French way of life proves singularly disappointing around four o'clock in the afternoon - the French don't go in for elegant china tea cups full of Earl Grey, with the milk poured just so, and muffins and crumpets, dripping with butter, and toast and welsh cakes or bara brith. Maybe it's because they have better things to do in that space of the day between finishing their digestion of lunch and starting work again at five. Like making love, for instance, with the warm sunshine beating down outside and the birds singing.

Ah - so there we have it: what is taking place behind the door in lieu of eating doughnuts and cucumber sandwiches. And why the cafe is closed. At least until five o'clock. By which time we shall be gone, our thirst satisfied elsewhere. But the closed door will be open and people will fill the interior.

Silverhead's Avatar Ah, but it's lovely and each one of us could imagine a different story behind this picture. Thank you for sharing.

Re:
Tiggywinkle's Avatar I love this picture. Isn't the tablecloth just the perfect colour in its surroundings.

Camilla's Avatar Could see a glowing candle on that little table too when the evening comes into it's own. Another great pic Fennie, just wondering what the bucket is for?

Re:
Frances's Avatar Fennie, you are kind to answer my request for interior photos.

I of course wonder, summer, fall, winter, spring. Which season would favor this interior? Are there windows? And so many other questions.

All those questions aside, I do love the look of this space. Please do continue to post more interiors.
