Cowart's Common Room
Day off, early arrival at the owl perch

Uploaded Image

Good evening to all you owls who might be about to land.

I have had a grand day off, in splendid late summer (even though it's officially fall now) weather.

After a late night at the shop, I was able to sleep late. Then a few errands, and then, a marvelous long lunch get together with friends I have know since the mid-1970's. We used to meet up perhaps every six weeks, but as the years have sped past, the intervals between our meetings have lengthened. Great fun today. Lots of talking and laughing!

After that lunch I rushed downtown on the subway to visit a marvelous exhibit at the Fashion Institute of Technology. This is great school that has started many designers on their way to fame and fortune.

The FIT Museum does fantastic exhibits, and the just opened show featuring contemporary Japanese fashion is an absolute wow. Everything from master designers Rei Kawakuba and Issy Miyaki to crazy outfits put together by kids as street fashion. Great fun to see this. Next time I go to this exhibit I will take my sketchbook. No photography allowed!

Hmmmm. Where are you Friday night owls? xo

Camilla's Avatar Good Evening Frances,

Thank you for posting, this wee owl fell asleep on that comfy sofa again.

Pleased to hear you had a wonderful day with friends, always grand to meet up with friends I say.

Would have loved to have been at that Museum, seen all those fab clothes too and as friends often say to me..... I adore clothes slightly crazy and quirky.

Here has been the most unkind weather, huge gusts of wind with heavy rainstroms, still raining, and could not even use my trusted brolly for fear it would turn inside out.!

Camilla's Avatar Heck, what is rainstroms.! I have invented a completely new word.!Smile

Frances's Avatar Ah Camilla, I know that you would love the exhibit. And...I think that rainstroms are really more fierce that the average rain storms!

Back to work for me tomorrow for another late night ... it will be our special fall event, which benefits a great philanthropy. We always donate 10% of our proceeds from these semi-annual events to a worthy cause.

I imagine that I might miss the owls tomorrow.

Camilla's Avatar Just going to post a card Frances, back on the perch later.

Camilla's Avatar Thank you Frances, what a wonderful idea to donate some of that proceeds from sales, think they should adopt that idea over here.

You will be missed Frances, but shall keep the perch warm for you until Sunday, when I do hope you will be able to have another relaxing day off from work.

Back in a jiffy.

Frances's Avatar Camilla, I also had to fly off for a bit to send an e-mail to a friend in Glasgow.

It is really warm again tonight in New York. I am glad that I haven't put my little fan away yet for the winter.

Camilla's Avatar Thank you Frances,

It is hard to imagine how warm it must be in NY Frances, here it is like a winters day, have the woodburner crackling away with logs as I type, found a few left in the wood barn, but waiting for new load to arrive soon. My fan has been put away until we have much warmer weather.

Frances's Avatar Isn't it funny that you, Bear and I now seem to be the only owls who regularly turn up?

FB hasn't been on the perch in a while, and I know that Puffin often gets here a bit later in the overnight.

Camilla's Avatar I remember when we used to have many owls across the globe hop on the perch at night Frances. I do believe that I am an owl that probably is much different time zone to our lovely abroad owls, but I am happy to be here on perch as it is my calming time, and it is grand to chat with you all. HL has no telly on, yipee.! gentle classical music in the background.

Yes, wondering where FB is, perhaps new job? think Puffin may still be on vacation, unless laptop is causing problems.

Frances's Avatar Well Camilla, perhaps as the cooler weather truly arrives, more folks will be back as owls.

This owl is now going to head on off for the land of nod. I've enjoyed trading chatter with you tonight. Sweet dreams.

(Sure that cat and clock will be fine for the overnight.) xo

Camilla's Avatar Thanks Frances, sleep well, look forward to seeing you on Sunday night for a chat too. Night Night, sweet dreams.
