Cowart's Common Room

Hello Owls,

Bear said where be the owls, owl was having difficulty gaining access to the internet, phew, here now.

Busy day yesterday, so much so not even enough time to catch up with all the gardening. Pleased to say Willouby the gardener will be arriving this Thursday to sort out all the hedging.

Lots of Owls twit-wooing outside as I type.!

Won't be long before I reach the land of nod tonight, but if you are having trouble sleeping then this is the place to be for a lovely natter with all the owls on the perch.

Night Night, & Sweet Dreams.

Frances's Avatar Glad to see you here tonight, Camilla!

It's been a beautiful late summer day here in New York. This is the week that the United Nations has its fall meeting, so there are all sorts of Very Important International Diplomats staying in New York. Traffic can be tied up at any point around town that these VIID's wish to travel.

I encountered some of this pomp and whatever this afternoon when I ventured over to Bergdorf's (just adjacent to the Plaza, and at the south eastern end of Central Park. VIP central. I wanted to see my make up guru for a bit of a autumn catch up. It is fun to have a supreme expert give you advice about colors and new trends and which textures are better than others.

Anyhow. I took a bus part of the way, but got off the bus for the last few blocks. It was faster to walk. I encountered sort of a dust up between competing security men at the entrance to the Plaza. Not sure what their altercation was about. Probably about pecking order of whose motor vehicle was to park in front of whose.

Ahhh. The sophistication of the diplomatic corps and their entourage.

Anyhow, it was fun to get a few new supplies of face paint, and to take a look at the other floors of this fabulous store. It was very, very funny to stop off at the primo shoe department where there did not seem to be a shoe that cost less than $500. The folks who work in this department really do earn their sizeable commissions. Lots of very demanding, and not not very nice customers in evidence. I did not have the courage to take out my camera.

Back to the shop at 8 tomorrow morning to try to get our October collection on the sales floor. I will have to turn out the lights early tonight.

Wish I could spend tomorrow outside in the Park. It was grand to walk home through Central Park this afternoon. xo

Camilla's Avatar Hello Frances,

Hope you had a lovely relaxing day, maybe some good books and beautiful crochet.

A patient I sometimes nurse was taken out by her friend to church, patient broke her hip, not good.

Camilla's Avatar Thank you Frances, you too.!

Sadly not so summery here although days will be warmer again from tomorrow, Friday not so good apparantly.

Parking here Frances can be difficult in the market square especially at weekends, and there are lots of yellow lines to stop any fellow motorist from grabbing that space. There is a free car park nearby, although that too sometimes soon fills up.

Goodness, the price of a pair of shoes..... almost 250.00 english sterling, that's big bucks.!

Hoping that your next free day Frances you can enjoy that walk through Central Park and perhaps share a pic or two with us.

Best of luck with the Fall Collection, I am seeking a new luggage case for going away to son's for Christmas, I shall try and keep that case to a minimum, although it will be difficult.!Smile

Frances's Avatar Camilla, think that we were both typing at the same time.

I did finish a crochet project this afternoon. It is a scarf composed of linked multi-colored crocheted flowers. It's made in soft merino wool and turned out well. Cannot decide if it is to be a gift or it is to be kept by myself.

So sorry to hear about your patient's fall. I am theoretically (according to the doc) supposed to have osteoporosis in the hip area. I just ignore this, and continue on with lots of walking and calcium intake, and all the lifting and other physical exercise that I am required to do daily at the shop. Hoping that your patient's hip will heal well.

Frances's Avatar Again, Camilla, our typing coincided.

Here's a thought for your packing for that Christmas visit. You might find it easier to actually use UPS or Fed Express or such shipper to send things ahead of your actual journey.

Christmas seems far off, but if the coming weeks move by as quickly as those in the past months ... it will soon be New Year's!

Camilla's Avatar Thank you Frances,

Love the sound of that crochet scarf of flowers, is it the lovely one on your blog page Frances? Maybe keep for yourself, although your friend will surely love it too.

Patient is 93 years of age and going blind in one eye, I do fear that such a fall at this age is somewhat worrying, hope the lady recovers well from the fall.

I think the walking and calcium intake Frances is good, perhaps if not so energetic your hip may set in even more, would not wish that at all for you dear Frances.

Camilla's Avatar Thanks Frances for that info on shipping, don't think I shall be there in Surrey for many days, perhaps three or four at the most, although would love to stay longer. Son and his partner always spend the New Year on their own.

Yes, I agree Frances, time just flashes by at a fast rate lately.!

Camilla's Avatar Please forgive Frances but off to bed now, eyes are closing.

Thank you for your company on the perch tonight/morning, best of luck with the Collection...... look forward to seeing you tomorrow. Must catch up with the site, so much I have missed.

Night Night Frances, sweet dreams.

Nite Owls.!

Frances's Avatar Camilla, I do hope that your patient will recover, even though such a fall at such an age might indeed be worrying.

Yes, the scarf is the one in the photo in my last blog.

Gosh...I need to post another blog soon. Just need to find more time in each day!

Didn't you love that little French house in the photo that Fennie posted? It was a wonderful surprise to see that post.

Sometimes, I just feel so stalled in place here, even if the "here" is really very much to my liking.

Frances's Avatar Camilla, looking forward to seeing you again soon on this wonderful Owl Perch.

Hoping that our other fellow owls will also soon again be landing here.
