Cowart's Common Room

Seeing Camilla's post below about Honey magazine
got me thinking about Petticoat. It ran at the same time as Honey but was a bit younger
You used to be able to send off for a basic pattern that was made from a sort of vilene fabric and marked up in grids. In the back of every issue a new dress was featured with instructions of how to adapt the pattern to make it. It was brilliant. I see from the website that it cost 6d - 2 1/2p!! Bargain.

Cait's Avatar I used to read Petticoat, loved it and Honey.
Never sent off for patterns though, I don't do sewing I'm afraid.

Westerwitch's Avatar I know the names but don't think I read either of them. Although I was making my own clothes when I was in my early teens.

And lines - lots of lines.

Camilla's Avatar Yep, loved Honey Mag Toady, so too Petticoat, Cait.!

Wish I could sew Toady, saw a link to a website of some lovely animal dogs that can be knitted too, one can buy the book too which has patterns in it of knitted dogs, all breeds.

If you are a subscriber to the Telegraph you can access a pattern too.
