Fennie's Avatar Not sure what to make of that. Is it a slug? Is that a rarity? I'm surprised you have so many dead leaves so soon. Am I missing something?

Arosebyanyothername's Avatar Yes - a slug and only too common I fear. We have dead leaves because of no rain - until yesterday - then too much all at once.Sad

Yes, the summer. I think it may have gone.Sad

Fennie's Avatar But are there still plenty of apples on the trees, and peaches, quince in the Sleeping Beauty garden, chestnuts shining as though polished by 1000 bootblacks, and the walnuts beginning to drop? Not all slugs, surely?

Arosebyanyothername's Avatar Apples - yes, peaches -yes - eating those for desert today, quinces - yes, I think, chestnuts - perhaps, walnuts - not many and those being hammered daily by woodpeckers. Only 2 slugs!

Salle de Bain's Avatar What a fabulous sounding harvest...

Ours consists of a few 'holey' apples and some rain sodden raspberries at the moment.
Do slugs climb trees?

Westerwitch's Avatar Ahem well I like slugs and I think he looks lovely . . . the leaves are starting to fall here too.

Silverhead's Avatar We have Apples, Quince, and an abundance of Victoria Plums----Heaven.
Husband has already collected Rowans and Elderberries from the hedgerows and we intend to spend this weekend picking brambles. Blueberries are next then Sloes and we have found a huge number of hazel trees all bearing a huge harvest just nearby. Autumn really is a glorious month ( if the weather holds).WinkWink
