Cowart's Common Room
I CAN'T SLEEP CHAT POST

Hello Owls,

Beautiful weather here at the moment, lots of gardening done in the afternoon although my old back knows it.!

Was supposed to be visiting a dear friend later today, not able to make it unfortunately, so shall look forward to that visit next week. We are going to a rural vintage art gallery here in Norfolk with a tea garden, hoping to pick up some great finds.

If you are having trouble sleeping then this is the place to be, hop on the perch for a natter, hot tea and coffee with some yum cookies too.!

Night Night, & Sweet Dreams.

Re:
Well, um, Bear is here. Not another Owl, but at least another critter.

Good evening, Camilla.

Delightful pictures (perhaps of you when you were younger?).

Well, Camilla, Frances, and Bear are about the place somewhere. Just not sure where.

Re:
Camilla's Avatar Good Evening Bear and Frances,

Thank you Bear, no not of me when younger, alas....although I do have a fad about hats.!

Was going to post a music video of september in the rain, under the circumstances, do not think it would be appropriate re the tragedy of that certain month in NY.

Re:
Frances's Avatar Hello owls ... and that definitely includes you, Bear. Welcome back to the perch, we have missed you.

Camilla, glad that you had good time out of doors today, and know that you'll have fun when you do get to meet up with your friend.

So, so hot here. If you follow tennis, you'll read about A Murray winning even thought it was hot, hot, hot.

I admit that I have yet to find time to see any of the US Open Tennis on tv, even though today was my second day off in a row. Perhaps the weekend will provide!

I did get errands done early.

My library has at last provided the newest book by David Mitchell, The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet. I am going to gobble it up.

I also got a much needed precision hair cut this afternoon. I was shocked to realize that the stylist's last precision cutting of my bob was mid June. Wow. She really is a wonder in her ability to create styles that grow out interestingly.

Also visited the farmers market.

So hot here tonight. My little fan is spinning valiantly.

Re:
Good to be back, briefly Frances.

Cool and dry here, Frances. Evenings in the low 40F temperatures, days Bearly getting up to 70F. And dry, on our very silty land. No rain for a week, and Miss Sadie kicks up a cloud of dust as she chases her toy about the yard.

And leaves are beginning to turn out here. Too soon, autumn.

Re:
Camilla's Avatar Thank you Frances, yes good to have Bear on board with us again.

Heard that Murray had won the match, unfortunately did not see it though, perhaps can catch up on iPlayer.

Shall make a note of that said book Frances, hope you enjoy it.

I had my hair done in late June too Frances, my next appointment is on the 14th of this month. Next one will be just before Christmas so shall book it early.

Hoping that at that farmer's market lots of toms were collected for that soup Frances.!

Not quite so hot here, fan has been put away for another year, almost spring like at the moment, just a gentle sun with cool breeze.

xx

Re:
I was busy with fall clean-up in the yard, today.

The one bit of excitement has been that our rose bush, which I transplanted about six years ago, finally bloomed this year.

Re:
Camilla's Avatar Oh Bear, that Rose and it's colour is sheer beauty indeed.! please, what is it's name? Is it a rosa ragosa?

Love Keats poems, he is one of my favourites, so sad that he died so terribly young, 24 I think.

Re:
Wedding anniversary. Ah, yes; day before yesterday. My beloved and I were headed in opposite directions all day, and evening, and didn't quite manage to catch up with each other, except very briefly at one point. No cake, no bubbly. Perhaps on the weekend, when we celebrate with the family.

Re:
Good grief; I'm not that much of a gardener to know the name of it. I salvaged it from the site of a building about to be destroyed. They said I could have it, so I took it.

Actually, the camera doesn't do justice. It's more a magenta colour than pink.

Re:
Camilla's Avatar Like ships that pass in the night..... hope you and 'J' get to have that celebration at the weekend with your lovely family Bear.

Re:
Frances's Avatar Bear, that rose is such a wonderful color. Hoping that you did not overdo it in your outdoor activities today.

Lots of end of summer produce at the farmers market. I did take some photos, and will eventually try to post a blog.

I brought home a sampling of tomatoes, zucchini, shallots, peaches and a new season apple. I might be able to visit this market again at the weekend xo

Re:
Camilla's Avatar Thanks Bear, if Zoe or Withy see this, pretty please, any idea's as to what rose it may be?

Lucky you Bear to get that Rose, love it's crinkly edge petals.

Re:
Ah, zucchinis, Frances. We planted several, but with the wet and cool weather, we've got nothing to show for our work.

We've also got an absolutely monstrous pumpkin plant, but nary a pumpkin. Same problem as with the zucchinis.

Re:
Camilla's Avatar Look forward to seeing your blog Frances and the fab produce you purchased. I adore apricots, rest of the family are not so hot on them.
