Cowart's Common Room
Whistle Down the Wind

We had a lovely evening yesterday. We had an early meal at the Newcastle Zizi and then went to Whistle Down the Wind in the Theatre Royal. It is a lovely production. We saw a second Swallow (the lead girl) but it did not affect our enjoyment. There were 23 small children from Stagecraft Newcastle and Sunderland Schools, and they were brilliant - beautifully trained and rehearsed. And the whole cast was excellent.
The story, originally by Mary Hayley Bell, is very testing if you apply yourself - rather than just sit and watch. The children's conviction that the escaped convict is Jesus in contrast with the adults determination to catch and kill him.
I had seen the 1960's film and particularly remember Hayley Mills, playing Swallow.
There is much more that could be said but no time the noo!

Re:
Dancing Dog's Avatar I love Hayley Mills. I think my favorite Hayley Mills movie was The Moonspinners.

Sounds like a very nice evening Withy.
