Cowart's Common Room
GOOD MORNING!

Today is Sunday, May 30, 2010.

More rain, all day yesterday; chance of snow later on. Spring in the colony. «Plus ça change, plus c'est la meme choise.» Even Her Ladyship, Miss Sadie is appalled by this year's weather; spends most of her time lying on the floor, asleep. She hardly even wants to go outside. Can't say as I'm surprised.

Supposedly we've had more rain this year than at any time on record. I'm trying to check that out.

One of the side effects to this meteorological phenomenon is the fairly sombre mood that has taken over peoples' lives, generally speaking. Was at a birthday party last night, for a friend of J (my wife, OH, spouse, partner — whatever). Talking to a judge who I know, who has been noticing the same thing for him. Several others, likewise. The tone of the party, rather than boisterous (as would normally be the case with these good folks), was rather subdued. As the Carpenters put it, "Rainy days and Mondays always get me down." It seems rainy days and Mondays is all we've had for a while. Literally. Either it's Monday, or it rains. At least it's good for the gardens and crops.

Marathon Day in the city tomorrow. Runners start at 7:00 a.m. Daughter-in-law is running, trying to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis research and help. Her sister's kids have the problem — something diagnosed in them just recently. One has for sure, the second one may.

Earl Grey tea, chocolate chip cookies (regular variety) in the two rectangular biscuit tins. Couldn't find a recipe for any gluten-free; sorry about that.) I need help in the gluten-free biscuits department.)

Hope you have a grand day!

Re:
Westerwitch's Avatar Thank you Bear . . .

Dull and chilly here - but not really much rain - it has actually been dry a lot recently and we could do with rain to make the grass grow. No midges though - even though the conditions were perfect for them yesterday and now is when they usually start biting . . . They are just not around let alone biting.

Re:
Arosebyanyothername's Avatar Raining in a purposeful way here for about 12 hours. Saves watering the veggies, of course, but everything looks very miserable and we have another visitor today. Ruth, whom we have to fetch from Toulouse.
We have ants in the food cupboard so we have had to empty it out - all over the kitchen table.
Still want to be here?
Bear - your suggestion of snow amazes me. That's really weird.
No biscuits, cakes or whatever - the weight is creeping up again, but that for the tea earlier.

Re
Camilla's Avatar Oh missed my cuppa again and those yummy biks Bear, thank you kindly anyway.

Weather is back to being chillier here and rain and hailstones with strong winds, so different from last week when it was very hot summery weather and enjoying the garden party here.
