Cowart's Common Room
Picture of the Day

Last year when I walked my favourite walk I noticed many Ringlet butterflies - this year . . . not a single one and instead we have lots of Orange Tip butterflies - it is a female in the picture . . . Fennie mentioned that he has noticed a lot of Dandelions this year - there are lots on the grass verges by the road up here - but very few where we live . . .so have you noticed a change in the insects and plants where you live.

Fairy Nuff's Avatar Loads of Dandylions in the lawn this year(Embarassed)
but the bees like them so I don't mind.
Not alot of butterflies around yet but we did have a shield bug on the wall of the house last month(I think he was lost!).

Butterflies are few and far between over here. Has to do with the high rates of insecticides used virtually everywhere. Sad

KittyB's Avatar We have a few orange tips - I love to see them, a harbinger of summer, like the swallows and the cuckoo.

We also have masses of large whites and cabbage whites, small tortoiseshells, red admirals, commas, wall browns and peacocks.
