Cowart's Common Room
OMG - coffee's late

Uploaded Image

Sorry everyone - I've spent the morning with the accountant. Success has its downsides - you have to pay someone to help you make the most of things.

I'm serving humble pie - so ashamed that I'm running behind!

Strong coffee and herbal tea are the other offerings.

Discussion point: Mike (accountant) tells me that he has laid off 2 members of staff because of the recession. I would have thought that with all the companies going into administration, people starting new ventures and the changes in tax legislation, accountants would still be living off the fat of the land. But apparently not, companies have gone out of business with unpaid bills and therefore no further figures to be accounted for etc. How bad do things have to get for an accountant to be poor? who else could be affected?

Frances's Avatar Wow, your accountant's tale does bring it home how the ripple effect can move.

Other examples...well, there is a certain redhead who has children who are princesses. She seems to have fallen on hard times, and apparently will be here in NY today.

Preseli Mags's Avatar I've only just got here for coffee too - R6 has earache, so I've been administering coopol and cuddles all morning, poor thing.

I feel sorry for everyone affected by the economic downturn - even accountants and duchesses. I suppose the accountant is at the bottom of the list for being paid and possibly the one who finds out how bad things are first. What a position to be in.

Puffin's Avatar I am even later,so the strong coffee sounds good.
I brought some Blueberry scones to share.
Had to take Teddy to the groomer's,so made me even later.

Accountants being laid off, right I would have thought it would make them busier.

Just shows there's no accounting for some developments. Rolling Eyes

Withy Brook's Avatar We do not seem to have heard from Lawyer Lady lately, but I know that she could tell us that they are not the fat cats that some may think they are. I know that there are a few firms that are very greedy but that is no reason why they should all be tarred by the same brush.
