Have just made a late cuppa before lamps out soon, but if you are having trouble sleeping then this is the place to be, hop on the perch for a natter.

Re:
Just came along to the great tree where the Owls perch, and I couldn't find any Owls. Hmmmm. . . . But it is the summer (well, almost at least Garden Party season), and a long weekend in Canada (and maybe elsewhere). So many more options than in winter.

Then I noticed that Camilla was at Skool, and Frances too, even though the Owl post wasn't up. So I decided to practice the lesson given to The Little Prince by the Fox, and be patient.

Lo and behold; the Owl post. Exclamation

In the meantime, Bear wandered over to the Skool to check on that "characters" there. Max has put out the clock, and I have attended to Tiddles. "All lights burning bright."

Re:
Greetings, Silverhead. Glad you give a hoot about what happens at skool in the night. Hope it's not a case of your not being able to sleep.

Re:
Frances's Avatar Camilla, I do love that garden photo, and think that the size is just fine.

So glad that you enjoyed the party in the garden, and am sure that everyone else did too!

You must be a bit knackered, so don't stay too late hereabouts.

I had a half day of work on my day off, but did have a good afternoon of freedom, visiting an exhibit at the James Beard House in Greenwich Village. It was the great chef's house, and now is a place devoted to fine cuisine, where daily another top chef (not just from NYC) prepares a special meal for a high, but by NYC standards, not exorbitant price.

I have never dined there, but ... who knows, might do, some day. It was grand to have a little bit of a tour of the house today, including a quick slip through the wonderful kitchen where a team of experts were preparing for tonight's feast.

RE
Camilla's Avatar Hello Silverhead,

Thank you, quite well thanks Silverhead, hope you are too?

I agree, such a wonderful time of the year, one of my favourite seasons of all. The ancient apple tree is heaving with marshmallow blossom at the moment, tables and chairs, and recliners together with rugs were layed under it for the party, a most perfect day.

Re:
This should be pasta time for Frances.

Bear has had an upset tummy this afternoon; no supper, at least not for a while. Was at a puppet show with other in the family; then we had lunch at a local eatery. May have picked up something unfriendly there, without knowing it. I'm OK, just a bit uncomfortable.

What were the rest of you up to? And Camilla, what happened at the garden party?

Re
Silverhead's Avatar We've had a gorgeous day here. I spent the morning washing all my bedding, etc which meant much of the afternoon was spent ironing. However, in between I took my daughter's dog for a three mile walk and then had a very refreshing G&T with a neighbour before being collected by friends to go off for supper at the golf club. This was followed by a glass of wine at another friend's house then home.
I'm really boasting because life is not usually so pleasure-filled but today was just lovely especially when the sun was in full supportSmile

Re:
Seems we were all writing at the same time.

Party sounded wonderful Camilla; likewise the tour, Frances. But having to work on your day off can turn it into an off day.

Re:
What an amazing day, Silverhead!

Well, ironing isn't actually amazing. In fact, Bear refuses to do it

Frances's Avatar Silverhead, that day of yours sounds pretty good to me!

Bear, you are right about what a half-day off equals. Needs must though, for now.

Camilla, I want to know about the refreshments at your party.

RE
Camilla's Avatar Hello Frances,

Thank you kindly, yes everyone enjoyed themselves but as you say..... I am a tad bushed.! all family went to bed ages ago, just sitting here for quiet moment with my cuppa.

Pleased to hear you had afternoon of freedom Frances, and the exhibit sounds fascinating, hoping that one day you may get to dine in that famous house.

Grandson is still thinking that maybe some day he would like to be a chef..... still a few more years to go yet.

RE
Camilla's Avatar Do hope whatever you may have ate does not cause anymore further discomfort through the night, water is good to drink, may flush it through.

The party..... lots of chatting, music, eating and drinking, even got to dance on the lawn with Grandchildren. Lots of clearing away later though, but would not have missed it for the world and everyone helped along too.

Re:
Frances's Avatar Dear owls, it's been grand to have a full branch on our favorite perch tonight.

Thank you, Silverhead. I do appreciate your wish. May you have sweet dreams tonight ... leave a light on if it comforts you. Here in NYC, there is always a bit of ambient light available from the sodium street lights. Keeps us from really every being able to see the stars, though.

Nite, nite. xo

Camilla's Avatar Sorry Frances, just trying to catch up and my PC seems to have gone a tad pear shaped. Too much food.! salads, advocado's, vegetarian meat dishes for some, chicken, pork and kebabs, spring rolls and garlic bread. Lashings of ice cream with maple syrup, choc gateau with cream, lemon drizzle cakes.

Crisp white wine or fresh lemonade, followed by coffee and after eight mints much later in the evening.

Er, I chose the wine.Smile
