Cowart's Common Room
GOOD MORNING!

Today is Saturday, May 22, 2010.

Yesterday, we got chatting over coffee about the pros and cons of caging animals. Some diversity of feeling. Nice to see a civilized discussion, with nobody attacking anyone else. Wouldn't it be nice if more of society could be as civilized as the students at Cowart's Skool?

New group around. Called PETA. Not to be confused with the other, older PETA which stands for "People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals." (Actually, I could never quite understand their ethical stance.) Anyhow, the new PETA stands for "People for the Eating of Tasty Animals." This is bound to cause a lot of confusion. Sad Very Happy Rolling Eyes Neutral Confused Shocked Cool

Today's tea is Welsh Breakfast. Rosie helped me find some. In the biscuit tins (no surprise), Welsh cakes. (Actually, I didn't make quite enough, so I've pinched some of Rose's, but she's probably not aware of that, yet Very Happy Rolling Eyes). Bears are "inventive" when it comes to problem solving. Yes; that's the word. Precisely.

Hope you have a grand day!

Re:
Ivy's Avatar Off to the Baltic today to watch hubby sailing a competition. Probably will get bored but I made plans how to spend the time. There is a castle nearby that I can visit and tomorrow I will visit the house of the painter Emil Nolde, that has been turned into a gallery. We have a long weekend before us because of Pentecost so be good and enjoy the weekend in the sun.

Arosebyanyothername's Avatar Good morning, Bear and everyone else up and alert this morning.
Caged animals: it seems to me it's a question of choice. Where the animal is given a cage as a refuge and is allowed the option of using it or not it will often take to it willingly, but if it is forced to spend all its days behind bars all it wants is to get out. Not surprising really!
Im all for treating animals with kindness and respect wether we eat them or not.
Lazy day today as our visitors need to rest after their journey, but I may have some chores to do.
Thank you, Bear for the tea and (my) Welshcakes. Inventive, indeed.
I hope your husband has a successful day Ivy - the castle sounds a good idea.

Preseli Mags's Avatar Good morning bear and everyone. Welsh tea and more of Rosie's Welsh cakes? Diolch yn fawr iawn! Blasus iawn.

Rosie has hit the nail on the head regarding cages. If you change the word 'cage' to 'office' it applies to humans too (or any situation one would rather not be in, but is forced too remain in.)

I'm all for the ethical eating of animals. We'd still have the Cumberland pig if people had realised that the best way to preserve it was to eat it.

The weather is glorious today here too. H8 is off to a bouncy castle party, R6 and I are going swimming, then it's out in the garden for the rest of the day with plenty of factor 50!

Have a lovely day everyone.

Tiggywinkle's Avatar Enjoyed tea, Bear. Beautiful day here to-day. Some B&B indoor chores to finish, full length mirrors to hang in bedrooms, Smoke alarms in all bedrooms, a bit of grout refreshing in a bathroom, and then out to the garden. Might even Bar B Q tonight. Have a good weekend.
