Cowart's Common Room

Some of you may remember me writing about the Rain and Shine Theatre Company who performed 'A Christmas Carol' in our little theatre last December. I've also blogged about other productions they've done. This summer they are touring with 'The Importance of Being Earnest' and between May and September will cover most of Britain. Due to my incompetence details of the show and dates are given in WW's comment below.

I urge you to go and see the show. They are tremendous fun, witty, inventive, beguiling - even in the rain! You will have a memorable evening. Take blankets though for the second act of an outdoor show is always colder than you think.

Fennie's Avatar Thanks WW. Don't quite know what happened there. Secrets of the Empire lovingly revealed for all to see. No, it appears that Scotland is too far from their base in Gloucester though if you were to secure a possible venue I am sure James Reynard (the director) would consider coming on from Newcastle - especially if you could put the Company up in your cottages. Maybe though you could come South to visit the PCers in Northumberland - (or come to Wales for that matter).

Fairy Nuff's Avatar I love these kind of Plays...did this one at school(I was a maid...worked my way up in subsequent years thoughVery Happy)
Pity they aren't coming to scotland though.

Best outdoor performance I've seen so far was The "Scottish"play(OK call me superstitious) at Cawdor Castle...great venue even if historically not the right one!

Camilla's Avatar Hi Fennie,

Absolutely love this play, saw it at Little Sheringham Theatre years ago here in Norfolk. Have a friend who is in amateaur dramatics there too. I would love to see it again, sadly though life here gets in the way at the moment.

I'm not at all familiar with this play, though I recognize the title.

Is it about Earnest Hemingway? Or, perhaps, Earnest Thompson Seaton?

And those artistic criminals are not coming to Scotland? Or Wales? This calls for a Purple Coo boycott of the production!

Oh, wait; do Purple Cooers ever boycott anything? (Bear is suddenly puzzled.) Confused

Fennie's Avatar Bear, this is the famous play by Oscar Wilde. A comedy of manners. And yes they are coming to Wales. Bryn Garw and Chepstow. They even played their last winter show in our theatre.

Very Happy

Bear sits corrected. Thank you Fennie, for the lessons in literature and geography. Very Happy

One day I'll come to understand things British. But not in Reading Gaol. Wink
