Cowart's Common Room

Hello Owls,

If you are having trouble sleeping then this is the place to be.!

Thought we were going to have rain on Sunday but the weather was really lovely, sunny day with a cool breeze. Everything is so lush in the gardens at the moment and still more buds waiting to open.

Hope you all had a fab weekend, which I thought went in a flash.!Smile

Strong cuppa at the ready, yorkshire brew with cookies and just going to take a tour of the site, see you later owls.

Night Night, & Sweet Dreams.

Evening, Camilla.

That fist pic reminded me of Faith and her little Yorkie. Hope they're doing fine.

Nice to see Mr. Woozle and Tiggywinkle here tonight. Quite the collection of Owls we're gathering.

Hot weather here; up to 25C (77F) in these parts. Got a few things done in the garden, including an enclosure to keep the birds safe from Miss Sadie. So far she's been very gentle with them, but she's a hunting dog (in her genes), and we don't want to endanger any of our feathered visitors. Plus yesterday, she almost caught the red squirrel who lives in the neighbourhood.

More like work in the sunshine, and play with Miss Sadie. Trying to encourage some grass to grow, plus trimmed the vines on the trellis, and put some fertilizer on our evergreen trees.

I have a broad-brimmed hat, like an old Boy Scout hat (actually I have one of them, too), to keep the sun off my head. My brain's addled enough as it is. Laughing And I had on my sunglasses.

And, for the record, Miss Sadie, when not outside, has been sleeping on the (cement) basement floor, as it's the coolest place in the house.

Ooooooppppsss. We've lost Camilla and Mr. Woozle. Glad to see you are still connected Tiggy.

I'm just going to slip over to the skool and check on Max, Tiddles, and the clock.

Be right back.

Right; everything seems to be in good order over at the Skool.

And Frances has arrived. WonderfulExclamation

Frances's Avatar Hello to you owls. Great to see so many folks landing here.

Your garden reports make me a bit green. You all know that I was inside the shop. Sundays are funny ... sometimes lots of tourists, sometimes lots of regular customers, sometimes lots of returns!!. Today was just a mix.

Good, but not spectacular sales results. The Sunday edition of the New York Times did a full page feature today about the Flat Iron district of NYC where the shop is located. I'd hoped that article would entice folks out on this lovely spring day to come visit us.

Maybe those enticed ones will visit later on this week.

Well, Frances, there are gardens and there are gardens. Just as there are gardeners and would-be gardeners (Bear falling into the latter category). Anyone knowing anything about gardens would cry at the condition of Bear's yard. Crying or Very sad The gardens of New York, on the other hand, are true marvels

To tell the truth, I cannot take all the credit for what's here. Miss Sadie has been very "helpful."

Camilla's Avatar Thank you Bear, yes do hope Faith's little Yorkie is recovering well dear chappie. We worry about our pets, love them sooo much. I am worrying about Daisy going to grooming parlour on Tuesday, she has never been before and although she is a sweetie pie, she can be a sheep in wool clothing.Smile

Pleased to hear you were sporting that fine sun hat Bear, you are having great weather over in Canada. As for keeping birds safe from doggies....... same here, I have had to have little pickety fencing at one part of the garden, Daisy is very fond of my feathered friends, and it does upset me so if she catches one, JRT being a hunting dog too, good for ratting apparantly.

Heading out for a bit. See you later.

Camilla's Avatar Hello Frances, great to see you on the perch too.

Hoping that those customers will come through shop and more sales are tilled. Ordered online today, although I do love to visit lovely shops for garments too. A delicate voile tunic and navy trousers.

Heard that Dio the rock singer has passed away Frances, do believe he is american.

Camilla's Avatar Just going to post a card, back soon.

Posted by: Camilla on 17th May 2010 at 01:22AM

Frances's Avatar Hmmm, Camilla, I will have to check the news. Do you mean Dion? If so, I remember his original music on the radio when I was a teenager.

He and his group were called Dion and the Belmonts, and came from Philadelphia, as did many groups. There was a very popular tv show then also broadcast from Philadelphia, called American Bandstand, and its mc was Dick Clark. Think that your Ready, Steady, Go might have been similar.

Anyhow, I remember my mother thought that tv show was pure trash and was apalled that I would watch it!

Posted by: Frances on 17th May 2010 at 01:32AM

Camilla's Avatar Oh yes, sorry Frances, it was Dion, heard on the late night news channel here. Apparantly Black Sabbath Group it reads on Ceefax TV.

Ready Steady Go, remember that Frances, think Cathy McGowen was on the panel, is that the programme when hosts had to give a certain record being played a score from 1 to 5, and think David Jacobs played the records.

Seems ages ago now, when I was a teeny bopper.Smile

Dion and the Belmonts. Distinctly I remember. My goodness, we are dating ourselves. That was then, this is now.

Bear needs to head off again, after helping J with the vehicles. Our Estate Wagon is not long for this world I fear. Time for it to go to recycling, for $300.00. Sad fate, that. But the Wagon is getting close to 20 years old, so I guess these things happen.

Sleep well, good Owls.

Frances's Avatar Indeed it does seem ages ago, to me, Camilla that I was watching American Bandstand on tv.

I hopped off the perch to go do a bit of a search, and lost my server connection "mid flight."

I know it's late for you now, so I will wish you sweet dreams, and the same to Tiggy, Mr Woozle, Bear, Puffin, and any other owls who might land here yet later on tonight.

I will have a long day ahead of me tomorrow, but hope to get to the perch ... maybe a little bit before this hour, tomorrow.

Posted by: Frances on 17th May 2010 at 01:52AM

Camilla's Avatar Please forgive me owls, off to land of nod and hoping for a good night's sleep. Night night, sweetest of dreams to you, and look forward to seeing you on the perch tomorrow.

Thank you Bear for tending to Max, Tiddles and Clock, grand job.! Goodnight to all the owls.!
