Cowart's Common Room
The Little Prince - the Show

Well, we made it. The proper performance of the Little Prince went off like a well-oiled piece of Victorian machinery. The theatre was full to the gunwhales and noisily enthusiastic and the support was terrific. Clearly the Purple Vibes worked as they always seem to do and thanks so much to those who sent them. I don't know what you put in them but they had an extra special quality that even sent us an extra stagehand for the night.

For those of you that wanted to see Rosie's Baobab, here it is. Uploaded Image It is about eight foot tall, by the way.

And here is the oasis which the crocodile finds in the desert, the well, painted by Rosie's husband. Uploaded Image

We have some pictures of the action too but I haven't got these to hand as yet.
So thanks once again. I was in a state of despair the day before as people muttered about not understanding the Little Prince and the on stage calamities mounted. But it all came right on the night. Someone was kind enough to say that I had thought it always would. I wish I could have been so sure.

Arosebyanyothername's Avatar Thanks, Fennie, I have been waiting for this all morning. I feared the worse as I had heard nothing except a polite email from Bob - which I would have expected anyway.

So glad it all went well - even better than you hoped by the sound of it, but then you have a grand supporting cast there. Who was the extra stagehand?

I recognise a few of those faces in the audience, both Brita and French.

Fennie's Avatar Just wish you could have been there, Rosie, as you and J were certainly missed. Amy turned up not quite out of the blue to help both in the bar and backstage. But yes, the audience reaction surpassed my expectations and it makes such a difference to the performers to have a large and appreciative audience calling out 'bravo' and clapping and for the first time that I've experienced in CADS the performers had to do a curtain call, coming out individually to take a personal bow. Then we reprised with another chorus of Louise's beautiful song. La Lune Brille Pour Toi' Really it was quite a night and - and - we are commanded to take the show to Clisson next year where they say they will put on a version of the Magic Roundabout which was designed by a team including Jean-Pierre Garreau whose signature moustache (when he was younger) was the inspiration for Zebedee. I am still on a high - just wish all that adrenalin would go away.Very Happy

Frances's Avatar Bravo to you, Fennie, Rosie, and to all involved in the CADS.

I am curious to learn more about how your group arose, how long it's been going, whatever you'd like to tell, actually. It amazes me that folks are willing to give their time to such an activity...not just for one production, but for season after season.

I think it's fabulous! xo
