Cowart's Common Room

As we have been trying out the coffee rota and picture of the day rota for a while I thought I would ask everyone on behalf of everyone if they like the current format . . . also the Good Morning Post and the Owl Post.

Plus should we bring the birthday cards for Purplecooers only back into the Common Room . . .

What do you think.

Arosebyanyothername's Avatar I like having the coffee rota and Pic of the day but I suspect that offers will become fewer as time passes, although I hope not. The pictures always stimulate a bit of discussion and the coffee site some light jesting. Let's keep it up.

Jaynebeth's Avatar I like coffee rota - and am happy to carry on doing so and gap fill. My posts are rarely in-depth and are sometime facetious but hey - there are magazines out there based on less!

I'd like it to continue if possible - but will go with the majority decision (or a coalition decision if required for the interest of Purple Coo).

I might even get brave and attempt a picture of the day!

I might even stop starting every sentance with 'I'!

Preseli Mags's Avatar I too like the current format and ditto to everything Jaynebeth said. I agree with Rosie too. Light jesting over coffee is good, let's keep it up.

Fennie's Avatar Let's run with it a while and see where we get to.

Ivy's Avatar I never make it to coffee mornings as it doesn't fit into my daily routine but I do back-read the posts so I have no opinion on that but Birthday- cards back on the Common room PC members only I would think a good idea

Faith's Avatar I can't often make coffee mornings either, but nice to know it is going on, if you see what I mean. Pic of the day, like Tiggy's thought of the day is lovely, as long as other people feel they can also put up a pic if they've got one. Birthday cards - actual members only - in the common room is my preference.

Cait's Avatar I love them all, they seem to hold it all together somehow. I can't often make the coffee one so won't offer to do it. My fave is the Owl post but even then I don't always read it at night as I am trying to get to bed earlier (!). I adore Camilla's pics. I prefer birthday posts for Cooers only and on this page.
Am loving Tiggy's quotes. Also the Bear's posts.

Salle de Bain's Avatar I love the coffee rota ...would offer to do the odd one but I'm too unreliable...forgot when it was my turn once and never dared againEmbarassed Anyway, if I did there'd only be 'the sweepings from the docks' (as my Gran used to call cheap tea), and probably a mouldy muffin or similar (don't like cleaning the bread-bin much Laughing).

Yep best if I keep out of it for everyones sake. Re: birthdays....I seem to miss them now they are no longer in the Common room.

Withy Brook's Avatar I love the curent formula - and the Bear's Good Morning starts my day very happily. I do not contribute much, but I do read them all if I have time, though the Owl posts not so often. Do lets carry on with it as it is for the time being, at least.

Inthemud's Avatar I'm just sorry I'm not around during the day to join in coffee mornings. Work very busy at present so even when I'm here I am busy writing reports and notes and don't get much time to socialise.

But I do try to pop in and have a look round at least once a day.
I like to read Bear's Good morning post if I get chance, it's a lovely start to day.
I think Birthday cards for purplecooers would be better in Common room.

Frances's Avatar Muddie has posted what I would have wanted to write.

(And of course, I do enjoy helping with the Owl Post, since it does help to stretch our Prime Time.)

1. Pictures in the Morning. Always awesome. Bear wishes he were just one-tenth as talented and capable as our resident photographers including our award-winners.
2. Coffee in the Morning. Wonderful "new" tradition. Always interesting conversation. Drawback: by time Bear is awake and presentable, coffee's cold and cake is gone. (A drawback of living in one of "the colonies.")
3. Owl Post. For those who give a hoot about what happens after midnight, this is THE place to be. If WW rules the day as Headmistress, Chief Owl Camilla rules the night, with the very able assistance of her Deputy, Frances.
4. Good Morning! Amazingly fantabulous way to start the day. Source of odd, arcane, and useful information. Varied and rich in hue and texture. (And Bear's "strong suit" is his very obvious humility.)

Let's keep 'em all as long as we can!

Camilla's Avatar Thank you Westerwitch,

I think pic of the day is a wonderful idea, so too the Coffee Mornings and Bear's Good Morning. I unfortunately do not always get time to be on the site in the mornings after 8am my time but love reading them, and of course would join in if I was able to.

I love doing the birthday cards for everyone and sending them a bunch of flowers to brighten their day. I think it would be preferable perhaps if cards though in future be posted in the CR instead of the Forums, but for members only, but would go along with what anyone chooses.

Think Owl Post is a wonderful idea for members of the site to chat if they are having trouble sleeping, I think a soothing little night music too helps the soul. Love also Tiggy's Thought For The Day.

Dancing Dog's Avatar Although I haven't contributed as the time difference makes it difficult, I really enjoy the "anchors". I read them all, usually with a mouth full of something delicious. There is something very comforting about it. Of course it's easy for me to say as I'm not the one doing the work, but I would miss it.
