Cowart's Common Room

Today is Thursday, May 13, 2010.

Well, there are strange things happening. The "Picture of the Day" was posted before Bear could wish you all a "Good Morning." Are the times out of joint? Bear wonders. Is Bear upset? Considering the goings on at Cowart's Skool, Bear has pretty much reached the point of being neither upset nor puzzled by anything here. "And that's the truth." Although the place does make Bedlam seem rather calm. Very Happy

Faith's little Yorkie (whose name I don't know) is home safe, but reportedly looking like a patchwork quilt. There have been suggestions that the Yorkie was taken to a quilting bee by mistake. Bear will put on his deerstalker hat, grab his magnifying glass, and investigate. In the meantime, we wish Faith and pup a calm convalescence.

Note from the campaign trail. David Cameron was asked by a media pack in the heat of the campaign for a joke. Cameron replied, "Nick Clegg." We suspect the joke is on Mr. Cameron, now that Mr. Clegg is Deputy Prime Minister. The phrase which comes to mind is: "Make your words sweet and gentle; you may have to eat them." Bear knows about these things.

Today's tea is Ginger Peach and it's a green tea. Meaning it's healthy. (Perhaps that "healthy" bit will be enough to frighten people away from it; I hope not.) In the biscuit tins, your have a choice. Chocolate-caramel macaroons, or chocolate coated digestives. If you don't like either, you can bring your own. (Bear tries not to make the same mistake twice!)

Hope you have a grand day.

Blossomcottage's Avatar I saw David Cameron blush yesterday when asked about that joke, but credit where credit is due, he smiled and turned to Nick Clegg and said " I did say it " at least he is honest enough to stand up and be counted when he is caught out not like someone else I can mention!
Like the Ginger and Peach tea, gives on the feeling of well being, perhaps we should invent a canine version for dear Yorkie.
As for the biscuits well I a happy with anything anyone else suppliesXX

Westerwitch's Avatar Mmmmmmmlove chocolate digestives . . . munch munch. On Top Gear Jeremy Clarke was interviewing Will Young and had to admit that he had once said . . . thought he might have said - well did say that Will Young looked like he'd been hit in the face with an axe. Will Young took it very well and it was a very funny interview . . .

I like the sound of peach and ginger tea, but don't like green tea . . .I really don't like ordinary teas with a hint of peppermint, or something they taste bitter to me . . . I like plain peppermint though . . .

Preseli Mags's Avatar I'd love to try the ginger and peach tea. That sounds like a lovely combination.

I thought that was a really funny moment during the political 'wedding' yesterday. They both saw the funny side which is encouraging.

If you missed it (or want to have another giggle) here's the moment PM Dave ate humble pie:

Arosebyanyothername's Avatar My! Bear is a fine example of diplomacy this morning, isn't he? I must follow his method closely. I trod on toes yesterday.

I don't want to discuss politics, if you don't mind. Especially when eating. They give me indigestion.

Couple of chocolate digestives, please.

Dancing Dog's Avatar I think I'll perch here for a while today, ginger peach tea, chocolate digestives and wonder of wonder's chocolate- caramel macaroons - BLISS!!!! I'm going to have to be a piggy. Thanks Bear

Politicians! I don't know, we all have such high hopes. Last year I watched a wonderful tv documentary called "14 Women" about the 14 female Senators (maybe more or less now) and how they work "together" for the good of all. Apparently, they meet once a month to have tea and discuss world affairs, current US affairs, and their families. They are from both parties and have realized that they really do need to work together if they are to accomplish anything. With respect to Bear and any other gentlemen on Purplecoo, I do think that women are better at communication and we need more of them in government. Hopefully that will lead to less of the "Old Boys Club" which I find so frustrating. Unfortunately, when they are in the minority I think they just tend to try to blend into the testosterone-filled atmosphere.

It made me think.

Enough of the thinking, back to the biscuits.

Twiglet's Avatar Oh thank you Bear - I was trying to think of that exact phrase about eating your words when I saw that TV clip - and this bear of little brain couldn't quite bring it to mind !
