Rogation day at Pluscarden.

Having not really heard about rogation day untill Withys Lovely post about it, we called in by Pluscarden Abbey yesterday just as the Monks were about to process round their garden to bless their crops Chanting as they went.

It was just the Monks, us and Two American Lads who were there on retreat. A lovely little ceremony followed by a short service which we were invited to join them for.

Fairy Nuff's Avatar It was a lovely peaceful start to the day and they were chanting in plainsong all the way round.
If I'm in need of a calm day at the studio I often listen to plainsong on my mp3.

CalicoKate's Avatar That sounds really lovely and calming Fn.
I hadn't come across Rogation either until just recently there is an article about it in this months Country Living Magazine. Such a lovely service to have.

Fairy Nuff's Avatar I've been a few times but it was HOs first visit.
I must admit we did have a laugh as we drove away after the service that his grandfather (who was in his time Grand Master of Lodge Ibrox) may have been getting dizzy in his graveWink
But yes, a lovely place no matter what your faith.
