Cowart's Common Room
PICTURE OF THE DAY

Uploaded Image

This is a view of Duntrune Castle from the Crinan Canal looking across Loch Crinan, taken last week in the most glorious weather. Today is somewhat cloudier and Cold.
Duntrune Castle is accepted as the oldest continuously inhabited castle in Scotland and belongs to the Malcolm family.
The vaulted rooms on the ground floor date from the 12th Century, and the remainder of the keep from the 16th. There is a is well-authenticated, ghost - a handless piper, whose musical warning "Cholla mo Run, Seachain a Dun" saved his master Colkitto McDonald from a Campbell ambush.

B&I are going to the wedding of owners son to my friend Lucy on Saturday. Not being held at the Castle though but in the family church nearby. We are really looking forward to it.

Re:
Dancing Dog's Avatar How lovely to be marrying into a family with a castle. I think the handless piper would take a little getting used to though.
Hope you have a wonderful time, and best wishes to the Bridge and Groom.

Re:
CalicoKate's Avatar LaughingLaughingLaughing I rather like Bridge & groom, am seeing her tomorrow and will let her know she is a bridge - so appropriate ~ her house is on the Canal side and Andy's is just up from the sea (bit further along from the castle) they ar going to be using both houses as Andy's get's let out for Hunting, shooting, fishing parties. He is a chef & she's vegan!!

Re:
Withy Brook's Avatar Thank you for your picture, CK. As you know the area is home from home for me. But I did not know all that about the Castle. Have a lovely day on Saturday.
