Cowart's Common Room
Coffee & Cake

Uploaded Image

Coffee time again - this time I'm sharing birthday cake with you. We've had a raft of birthdays in the family and to be honest birthday cake is losing it's charm - and I still have the girls birthdays to go!

This cake is old fashioned fruit cake - so I'm serving sparkling wine to lighten the load.

I've really had enough of birthday cake - what has your tolerance level been stretched with recently?

Re:
Westerwitch's Avatar Thank you for stepping into the breach. HS hates fruit cake - so can I have his piece as well Very Happy Sparkling wine on a skool day . . . plus there seems to be tins of Guinness everywhere!!!!!!!!

My tolerance has been stretched by Social Services down South making up the rules as they go along and altering them to suit themselves when it pleases them! Evil or Very Mad All I have ever asked for is help!

Re:
Westerwitch's Avatar Jaynebeth - are you doing coffee today and tomorrow, or do you want to swap today for tomorrow - you can't swap it for yesterday unless yesterday was today then today would be tomorrow and you could have swapped yesterday's today for today's tomorrow which would have been today . . .Shocked

Re:
Preseli Mags's Avatar I LOVE old fashioned fruit cake. Yum! But I'll pass on the sparkling wine - I had half a bottle last night - I'll stick to coffee!

My tolerance was stretched yesterday by fellow Race for Lifers lining up with the runners and then walking (along paths too narrow to overtake). But it was still terrific fun and Hannah really enjoyed it too (especially the goody bag at the end - and the army cadet who handed her the medal!!)

Today I am doing housework, if fetching the dog in to eat Cheerios from underneath the dining table counts as 'housework'. Laughing He's very efficient and he doesn't miss bits (unlike the hoover!).

Withy Brook's Avatar Could someone turn the Headmistress's today into yesterday, so's we can return to some sort of sanity? Rolling Eyes

Re:
Preseli Mags's Avatar I can do tomorrow Jaynebeth, if you want to swap today for tomorrow in which case I'll swap tomorrow for Friday as I'm less busy tomorrow than I am on Friday... So today will be tomorrow, tomorrow will be Friday and Friday will be the day after the day after today when today is tomorrow and the day after that... er.. after tomorrow... um...

Re:
Arosebyanyothername's Avatar I'll just have a piece of cake and a glass of sparkling wine, please. Some people seem to have been at the sherry or something - they don't know whether they are coming or going.

Re:
Jaynebeth's Avatar Hi PM - yep - you do tomorrow and I'll do Friday as you're going off to state the bleedin' obvious!

Re:
Preseli Mags's Avatar I'll amend the rota Arrow currently making appropriate cake - chocolate and vanilla marble cake, known today as 'coalition cake'.

Re:
Preseli Mags's Avatar Rota is already amended - we have someone very efficient amongst us... Shocked Rolling Eyes Laughing

Fennie's Avatar Just love the sparkling wine! Rosie are you doing any work down there at the Mill?

Re:
Faith's Avatar Sparkling wine and cake very appropriate as my eldest daughter's 31st birthday today - it will fill the gap before me and hubby met her and her hubby for a late lunch at local Loch Fyne fish restaurant - yum!

My tolerance level is stretched by my youngest daughter - always totally broke!

Re:
I'd love some fruit cake and wine (even at 7:00 am). Thank you so much. A nice touch after this morning's fruit salad and Assam tea.

Tolerance stretched by SNOW, in May.

Splendid idea, this coalition cake. But please put in some peanut butter too; there are some nutty people here who would just love that, I'm sure.

Re:
Arosebyanyothername's Avatar I certainly am, Fennie. Just stripped all the beds in the gite. Rearranged the furniture to get three single beds in one room (French family coming). Washed, dried (nice day) and ironed all linen. Covered a mattress.
Jim is laying a wood floor in the small bedroom of the house.
We are exhausted - shall sit in the sun with a cup of tea for a while now.
