Cowart's Common Room
GOOD MORNING!

Today is Monday, May 10, 2010.

Bear begins with an apology. It seemed that things weren't entirely right yesterday morning, but the befuddled Bear couldn't quite sort out the problem. Headmistress did. Bear hadn't left tea and bikkies. Embarassed Embarassed Bear will at least try to amend his ways. (Yes, Bear is trying; he understands that. Rolling Eyes)

Bear also appreciates all the hugs he has received. Your thoughtfulness is truly heart-warming.

On this day in history, Scottish nobles recognized the authority of Edward I of England, in 1291; The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that a tomato is a vegetable, not a fruit, in 1893; The first German bombs of World War II to fall on England came down at Chilham and Petham, in Kent, Germany invaded Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg, Winston Churchill was appointed Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, and British forces invaded Iceland all in 1940. That was a busy day. (The Icelanders "evened the score" by invading the U.K with volcanic ash this year proving that there is a certain justice in the world, though you may have to wait a while for it.) As to whether the Scottish National Party will be able to reverse the action of 1291, . . . Confused

In the land of the Bear, still more precipitation. Yesterday, rain; today, rain all day and night. Bear does not think this is entirely ducky but is learning to say "Quack."

Bear has left some fruit salad in the Common Room fridge as an "uncommon" treat: bits of orange, apple, pear, banana, peach and melon. No tomatoes because they're not fruit. At least to Americans. Today's tea is Assam, the biscuits are store-bought vanilla wafers don't want to "overpower" the taste of the fruit salad.

Hope you have a grand day!
