Cowart's Common Room
GOOD MORNING!

Today is Saturday, May 8, 2010.

Bear has yet to determine if Thursday's election has left Britain ungoverned, ungovernable, or both. I'm tempted to say "condolences," but I'd best watch my language. Bear almost launched "The Great Macaroon War of 2010" at skool a few days ago with an inadvertent aside. Purple Coo became very nervous about the resulting "conversations." Which made Bear very nervous. Nuff said. (But not by Fairy Nuff, tough she may have entered into the brief fray Bear's brain is a bit addled. But you already knew that. Rolling Eyes)

Kindly fan mail in PM from Mr. Woozle yesterday, whom I've thanked in a PM. You'll recall that yesterday morning, Bear held his breath when listing Sinn Fein with other Celtic political parties. There was good reason for Bear to hold his breath, as I think most of you understand. Mr. Woozle highlighted that, appropriately. (Sometimes the Op-Ed writing Bear gets a little too close to the edge. Sorry for any disturbance I caused.)

Begin Saturday, Bear will probably sleep late. Her Ladyship, Miss Sadie, may have to come wake me. She can be pesky that way. Perhaps there's book in this: Walking Miss Sadie.

Irish Breakfast tea in the Common Room. Ginger snaps in the biscuit tins. Let's hope for a calm day, everywhere, with lots of flowers and birds (and pictures).

Hope you have a grand day.

Re:
Preseli Mags's Avatar Irish tea and a ginger snap accompanied by ARose's apple tart and coffee - is that a bit greedy for a Saturday morning? Who cares! Let's hope for a calm day (with for me a bit of F1 watching in the middle of it. Not really a calm sport...)

Re:
Ivy's Avatar Why condolences? Belgium went without a proper government for over a year and nobody noticed. Being the notorious pessimist I am, I would say it's not the government that rules but big companies and banks. And they stay in power whoever wins or looses the election. Makes me think that democracy is just a farce to appease the people.

Just come back from my first gentle running session this year ( due to dislocated discs and a lot of pain I have not been well enough to run for a long time) and tea and a ginger snap sound just fine.

Re:
Westerwitch's Avatar Phew ginger snaps - much better than macaroons . . . have you ever tried dipping ginger snaps in hot Ribena Very Happy or even better dead fly biscuits . . . can't remember their real name - the biscuit's name - not the dead flies . . . which are really currants . . . do currants have names? Do flies have names?

Re:
Dead flies are tasty, like grubs. Right, Headmistress? (But perhaps you're not a grubby person.)

P.S. to all: have your checked your PMs lately?

Re:
Also: do flies have names? Intriguing question. To my knowledge, not currant-ly. Rolling Eyes

Re:
Westerwitch's Avatar If flies had names what do you think they would be?

Re:
Preseli Mags's Avatar Flies are Nigel. Wasps are Jasper. Spiders are Charlotte (hairy legs) or Sidney (spindly things). What are bees?
