Cowart's Common Room
Coffee 'n' stuff

Berlimey so we have a hung Parliament - great idea hang the Parliament . . . oh I see not that sort of hanging . . . well it did sound a bit brutal . . . a nice quiet lethal injection perhaps . . .

So did you vote? HS and I did . . . although it is so difficult to decide when you don't actually believe what any of the politicians are saying . . . is it me, or do the debates in the House of Commons look terribly childish - it looks as though it is just people trying to be clever and win points and have the last word - nothing to do with actually running the country - very skool playground. Remember watching a debate which was hilarious because the poor camerman couldn't get a shot without someone asleep in it . . . and these people run our country . . . the politicians - not the cameramen . . . then again . . .

The coffee is Gold Blend because it is on special offer and I have used the cafetiere for growing cuttings.

Usual assortment of teas - including Bear's Heather tea . . . and oh look here is a plate of Macarooons - now where did they come from Shocked

Re:
Preseli Mags's Avatar Who's in charge? Anyone got any idea? They keep talking about parliament being 'hung' and showing pictures of CamBroClegg. Very disturbing.

No coffee for me thanks, but a macaroon will do nicely to take away the taste of my painkillers (bleurgh).

Re:
Resewnsally's Avatar I love the sound of that heather tea! Must look for some. I'll pass on the Macaroons thanks, have already had too many home made hobnobs! Embarassed I don't often indulge in my baking, not because it's bad, but usually i'm sick looking at it by the time i'm finished. But Hobnobs are delish! Recipe from MSE Twink is a genius!

I'm embarrassed to say, *whispers* I didn't vote.
I just couldn't pick who to vote for. Too many liars for my liking, i don't understand a lot of politics, and it just seems to me the whole system needs a huge kick up the bum.

I'm off to tidy up yet again, little one has just tipped out all the contents of his big toy box. Then attempt to get some bags made.

Hope everyone has a lovely day!

Re:
Westerwitch's Avatar Why are you on painkillers PM?

I confess that I stood in the voting booth undecided . . . but I did vote . . . the whole system does seem fundamentally flawed, but no idea what we could put in its place.

Re:
Preseli Mags's Avatar Chronic back/gall bladder pain has flared up. I was undecided in the voting booth too. In the end I voted my usual way. I hate the idea of 'tactical voting'... I hope that this hung parliament at the very least brings some type of electoral reform.

Re:
Salle de Bain's Avatar Always been a supporter of the CNP myself (Cornish Nationalist Party)...not that my views are at all parochial and backward looking you understandLaughing.
Quite glad I missed all the election canvassing....the dogs used to go mad at all the calls, and nearly pulled my best curtains down once when the local labour candidate drove past our window with his head out through the sunroof shouting into his megaphone. Evidence of their political bent perhaps...
Sorry...not a fan of macaroons, but I wouldn't mind a coffee.

Re:
Fairy Nuff's Avatar Heather tea for me please, not too strong.

Re:
Jaynebeth's Avatar I need strong black coffe with a large dash of brandy - I know it's early but it's medicinal - my attitude's playing up and needs numbing!

I'm off to the bakers if anyone wants anything?

I voted - don't know if it made a difference - don't even know what the potential outcome will be yet.

Re:
Preseli Mags's Avatar PM for PM? The second Maggie in Number 10? That's a great idea FN! Hmm. I'll have to think of a few policies... and write the Queen's Speech... so much to do... Laughing

Re:
Dancing Dog's Avatar Thankfully we still have a few months to go before voting. Movement is afoot over here, at least locally, to persuade people not to vote for ANYONE who has been elected before. Not such a bad idea, but honestly, I think it would just replace one group of dodgy politicians with another.

On a happier note, I LOVE MACAROONS. I will try to only take one.

Jaynebeth I would love a Cornish pasty if the baker has any. (If not, a good sausage roll or pork pie would be bliss)

Thank you.

Re:
Resewnsally's Avatar Ooh! PM, sorry to hear that! I had my gall bladder removed a few years back. The pain was unbelievable! Such a relief to have it out. I hope you feel better soon.

Re:
Bear would like tea and macaroons, pls. And something very strong for the back pain.

No parliamentary majority, in this colony across the pond, means a "minority government." For the Brit side of the pond, a "Hung Parliament." That does sound like the notion of hanging all the people who've been elected, then starting all over again with the electoral process. (Bear hears some wags saying that a mass hanging would "be a good start" in dealing with politicians.)

Sigh. Much instability abounds, and not just in Greece. I wouldn't be surprised if Her Majesty is "not amused."

Too much pain; back to bed for Bear. (Good grief; it's only 6:25 am local timeExclamation)

Re:
The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of PM for PM. Perhaps a locally-instigated insurrection is what Britain needs just about now. And hang the politicians (figuratively, not literally).

Re:
Westerwitch's Avatar Hooray PM is PM of Purplecoombe . . . got any policies? Just set 'what do you want Purplecoombe's policies to be' as homework Very Happy and then delegate like mad Very Happy

Sooooo sorry to hear about the pain - chronic pain is draining and you need a big hug . . .

There you are there is a good policy - people in pain get a big hug from everyone.

Re:
"Gets my vote," says Bear!

Problem is, too many politicians cause pain rather than alleviate it. Sigh!

Another reason to hang Parliament.
