Cowart's Common Room

A robin has made a nest in an old watering can outside my back door. I just looked out of the window and I saw it feeding its babies. I recently removed a dead French lavender from this can, the robin must have thought the space it left made a good nest! Can't believe I didn't notice it sitting on the eggs.

Dancing Dog's Avatar That's wonderful, what a lovely photo. I hope there aren't any cats nearby, she's awfully low to the ground.

Westerwitch's Avatar WOW . . . yes I wondered about cats

KittyB's Avatar I too am worried about cats, will have to keep my eye out as there are several about including Trevor, the village stray Tom who is fierce. I don't want to move the watering can in case mother Robin doesn't come back. Fingers crossed that they make it to fledging.

Frances's Avatar Kitty, that certainly is a grand photo of that young family. Yes, fingers crossed over here, too, that other kitties stay away.

Preseli Mags's Avatar How wonderful - and a great photo too. I love those gaping beaks. What a treat (for us - hopefully not for a passing moggy.)

Salle de Bain's Avatar That's a wonderful picture....quite priceless!

I hope those cats stay's amazing that they haven't found it yet. I wonder if there is any sort of natural cat deterrant for this kind of situation?

Patsy's Avatar's called a dog Salle LaughingLaughing
A nice quiet old hound to loaf about nearby would be ideal, the robin would soon get used to it.
Brilliant picture Kitty, quite made my day!

Twiglet's Avatar oh lucky lucky you - what a fab pic of that special little bird - my favourite.

Fabulous pic, Kitty. Reminds me of the Robins (American) who nested in our back yard last year.

Patsy's right; best natural cat deterrent is a dog.

Camilla's Avatar What a great pic Kitty.!

Think you should send that pic in to Spring Watch, might get a mention on the programme. Think the new programme starts again end of May this year.

Hope that cat stays well out of sight.!

Tiggywinkle's Avatar Great Picture Kitty. I love the cheeky little robins. Put up a nesting box this year, but no luck. Still I have the blue tits to watch outside my kitchen window. They haven't hatched yet.
