Cowart's Common Room
GOOD MORNING!

Today is Saturday, May 1, 2010

In some/many places, this is "May Day." For Celts and Wiccans, it is Beltaine. It is International Workers' Day in may places. "Working people of the world, unite!" and all that good stuff. I don't know if the Russians will have a big military parade today, but they did on May Days past.

It is the beginning of the weekend (a long weekend if I remember in Britain, with a Bank holiday). I hope the weekend will provide an energizing and reviving time, even if you've planned a garden party for 200 guests. (Hmmmm, . . . perhaps a bit early in the season for a garden party.) Tea and scones by the fireplace, perhaps, with family and friends. Or some wine and cheese. Farmers market this morning; see what's new in due course.

A couple of poignant thoughts yesterday morning from Ivy and Faith about the Creator's intention for us, and our apparent choice(s) for self-destruction. You can refer back and reflect if you wish.

In the land of the Bear, rain yesterday, snow overnight, with rain and showers today and more tomorrow. (Bear thinks he is beginning to develop webbed feet.) Her Ladyship, Miss Sadie, being a water dog, doesn't mind this at all, although it would be nicer if this were a bit warmer.

Tea and goodies in the common room as usual. Irish Breakfast tea, and sliced Porter Cake (yes, Bear is getting adventurous in his baking) in the biscuit tin.

Hope you have a grand day.

Re:
Inthemud's Avatar Good Morning Bear,
We too had rain overnight, but not the snow, thank goodness!
What kind of dog is Miss Sadie, what do you mean by water dog?

I have a german shepherd x leonburger and she is supposed to like water, having webbed feet, but she will never go in deeper than she can stand!!

Have a great day

Re:
Ms. Inthemud: Her Ladyship, Miss Sadie, is a Standard Poodle, 10 months of age, black in colour, weighing 50 pounds. She is extremely strong and "enthusiastic," and can take the Bear for a walk once she gets outside (which is why she's going to "obedience lessons").

Our previous Poodle, on a hot day, would play in a garden sprinkler for a long time.

I would let Sadie play in the river, but the current is strong and treacherous, so I'll find a more suitable body of water for her to demonstrate her water-retrieving skills. (Her retrieving skills on land are turning out to be excellent; they just need a bit of refinement.)

Thank you for asking.

Re:
Ms. Westerwitch: I am here reminded of a song by Sir Harry Lauder about how nice it is to get up in the morning. If my ramblings aid you in that exercise, I'm pleased to be of assistance.

Thank you for your note.
