Cowart's Common Room
One woman's tenacity

Have just posted an interesting snippet (in the Christmas Forum under Thanksgiving) about the tenacity of one woman in having Thanksgiving being declared a A National Holiday in America. I love people with passion.
May I take this opportunity to wish all our American Coos A very Happy Thanksgiving. xx

Frances's Avatar Ta very much, Tiggy!

Several early colonial communities (Virginia and Massachusetts) claim to have had the First Thanksgiving. I am not so keen on this sort of competition. Just like the idea of giving thanks.

Nowadays, our Thanksgiving holiday has taken on all sorts of other connotations, from football games, to turkey-based feasts, to Friday-after-Thanksgiving Day sales. Think that most churches have sort of retreated into the shadows.
