Cowart's Common Room
School Play

This made me smile!

My sister emailed this about her grand-daughter, aged 5:

K in tears at lunchtime because she was cast as ‘lightning’ in Year 1 play and wanted to be a sheep. She wanted to be a sheep last year too, in the Nativity play. She didn’t feel she could talk to the teacher about it but agreed to write to her. She gave her reasons:

A) I like to wear woolly things

B I was born in the year of the sheep

C) because I can make a nice sheep sound.

You will be pleased to hear they have decided to have two sheep and another little girl has taken over the role of ‘lightening’.

KittyB's Avatar Ah, bless. Good reasons if ever I saw them. Lambs are much better than lightning!

The role of a sheep has been deemed the 'worst role' by a 9 year old boy in our school play. 'A sheep with only four words!' he grumbled.

To beat that H chimed in that he's been cast as 'Mr Sparrow' and will have to wear tights. Not cool when you're nearly 10!

Fairy Nuff's Avatar How lovely...out of the mouths...as they say.
I love the way she couldn't talk about it but would write it down.
I was a sheep(one of three) in our secondary schools "christmas Jazz" and had to sing our song in a wobbly sheepy voice while on all fours wearing sheepskin rugs...great fun.
I also had to teach the donkey how to tap dance for his soft shoe shuffle...even better as he was a sixth year hunkVery Happy

Re:
Tiggywinkle's Avatar O.K. Baa. That is so sweet, and I am happy for her. Last year I felt for little Muffin. She wanted to be an angel, but was cast as a shepherd. It was bad enough wearing a teatowel on her head, but the final straw was having a black beard and moustache painted on her face for the performance. She wasn't a bit pleased, but laughs about it now.
