Re:
Frances's Avatar I bet that your hair style looks grand, Camilla! There really is something so relaxing and luxurious about having your hair taken care of by a talented stylist.

It was a beautiful day in New York, and I was up early and got quite a bit done on the Christmas card front. Also a bit more on the Christmas gift-making projects.

Had a quick trip downtown this afternoon to Purl, the fabulous yarn shop in our SOHO neighborhood, to pick up just a few more skeins of yarn for a particular project. It's fun to go in there and see all the enthusiastic knitters/crocheters bustling about, looking for yarns, or finding out from one of the resident experts just where their sweater, hat, scarf, socks, whatever might have gone off the chart.

It's a friendly place, and I rarely leave without buying something!

I am into a new book by the prolific Alexander McCall Smith, called The Lost Art of Gratitude. Great title! It is the latest of his series set in Edinburgh featuring a lady philosopher as the main character. Very dry and very funny, and occasionally wise, too.

RE
Camilla's Avatar Hello Frances, thank you. Yes, I love Holsoe too.

You are so creative Frances, bet those Cards and Projects are just delightful.

I love the sound of that store Purl, can remember my mother having many old-fashioned patterns around the house in London, she was always knitting when she was younger.

I have heard of that Author Frances, I think I have two copies here somewhere which I won with a teapot in magazine competition, complete with tea-bags.! Have you got all of the Author's books Frances?

Re:
Hello, Owls. Just back from a walk. and just enough time to say, "Hello" before Sadie wants more attention. (She's barking at me right now.)

I'll be back in a bit, thought not perhaps until all of you have gone. It's half past seven here, so I suspect that about 1:30 a.m., GMT.

If nobody else gets to Tiddles and the clock, Chief Minder will attend to that, in due course.

Re:
Puffin's Avatar Hi Rob-bear,
Think I can see you peeking.
Looks like we are alone on the Owl perch.
Didn't get much done today with spending the morning in the garage.
Horn is now blowing on the SS and whoosing sound is gone too.
Just did my little errands--New phone is working nicely.
I couldn't get a battery for the old one.Styles go out fast.

Re:
What Sadie wanted was a drink. Now she's got that, she'll rest for a bit.

Meant to mention last night, Camilla, that it's good to know your son got safely home.

And Frances, sounds like you're putting the finishing touches on your holiday, even though the holiday is over. Are your going to give us a "sneak preview" of your work? The Lost Art of Gratitude would, I think, make a wonderful read.

Now, Tiddles and the clock. Clock out, Tiddles wound and fed. Things are as they should be. Speaking of which, Sadie may need a bit more food, so I had best check on her.

Re:
Frances's Avatar Oops, I'm sorry to have missed some arrivals.

Bear, I really enjoyed reading your blog about the walk round your area.

Puffin, great to see you here. I think I might have mentioned before that I still have an old style rotary dial phone. It works beautifully!

Camilla, I get all these books from the library now. My bookshelves are full of books bought long ago. Every now and then I do relent and buy an art history book, or perhaps some books about various crafts. There is just no room for much more around here!

RE
Camilla's Avatar Hello Rob-bear and to Puffin, thank you.

Thank you kind bear, son might be late thirties but he is still my baby, pleased he arrived home safely. Pleased to hear the pups are doing alright, although they are not probably pups any longer, growing faster by the minute, when will they be fully grown? Thank you for tending to our little Tiddles and the Clock Rob-bear.

Hope all is well with your car when you go to the garage to collect Puffin, mine is due for it's tax end of this month, more expense.! Filled it up with petrol yesterday sadly that won't last long, 2 litre engine, a real guzzler.!

Re:
Frances's Avatar Sweet dreams to you, Camilla.

Many thanks for the offer of the books, but I am pretty sure I have read all of them so far (the Botswana books and the two Edindburgh series.) Every time now I learn of a new one, I just ask the library to order it!

Puffin and Bear, hoping that you also will have lots of restful sleep.

See you all soon. xo
