Cowart's Common Room
I CAN'T SLEEP CHAT POST

Good Evening to the Owls who may still be awake.

This little owl is, just, but just going to pop the kettle on for a cuppacinno tonight, and not forgetting some gorgeous choc to go with it.

Do hope no one suffered to much damage with all those gusts of wind we had yesterday, goodness...... it's a wonder the roof it still in tact.!

So if you can't sleep and there are others on line, then hop aboard the perch Owlys and have a natter here.

Night Night, & Sweet Dreams.

Re:
Silverhead's Avatar Hi Camilla, been around the block reading in the Forum.
Hope you are still around.
The weather here seems better than that down South and I hope you are coping with the wild weather.

Re:
Frances's Avatar Hello Camilla and Silverhead,

Camilla, you are a sweetie to post the picture with the knitting. I am "turning the heel" on my first sock. So far, so good.

It was a dark, grey-skied day here in NYC, with fog hanging low enough to disguise the tops of buildings much lower than the Empire State Building. Intermittent rain too.

Just down Broadway from here, we have a brand new Apple computer store. Like other Apple stores, this is a big glass box above ground, with most of the "business" going on in a huge basement. This is this shop's first weekend, and there were lots of crowds around when I passed by on my afternoon walk.

It will be interesting to see if these crowds continue to gather as the weeks go by. I think that this is at least the fourth Apple shop in NYC, and I know that another is about to open near Macy's at Herald Sq.

Tomorrow I hope to get together with a couple who are amongst my dearest friends. It has been a while since I have seen them, and so I do look forward to lots of talking!

Camilla's Avatar Hello Frances, thank you, oh I have not heard that phrase for ages....... turning the heel of sock, remember my mother saying that when she knitted.

I love Apples Frances, perhaps it is that saying.... an apple a day keeps the doctor away...... they can be used for so many recipes, and I love them with cheese.

Will be really grand to catch up with your friends you have not seen for a while, I am sure you will have lots to catch up with.

I had a telephone call from my granddaughter yesterday, she said........ hi Grandma, how about we go shopping next Saturday and maybe stop off for a spot of lunch........ such a sweetie.

Re:
Frances's Avatar Please do try that picture again, Camilla.

(Love the apple fruits too, though not a devoted fan of the Apple computers! The stores I was describing only sell the Apple computers and other pricey little electronic doo dads.)

RE
Camilla's Avatar Oh Frances, I had to laugh.......... so sorry, of course, it is Apple Computer, or Apple Mac, perhaps lots of people buying for presents with Christmas nearing, as there are so many stores selling in competition with each other, maybe there will be knock down prices.!

Re:
Frances's Avatar Fantastic flowers! Earlier today, I went out in search of a hyacinth plant to put on the coolest window sill in the apartment. Didn't find one. I think that I'll have better luck tomorrow, at yet another local farmers market.

The Sunday version usually has lots of plants.

Isn't it just about lights out time for you, Camilla? xo

Hello Puffin. I'll stay a bit longer, still trying to figure out this heel-turning bit on my sock. Right now I have to unravel a bit.

I am going to take a walk around-
Saw quite a bit earlier today.

Re:
Frances's Avatar Puffin, if that hand knit sweater doesn't fit any more, maybe you can turn it into something else. Perhaps felt it, then cut it up and ... who knows what its next life might be?

Re:
Frances's Avatar Sorry fellow owls, I will be saying nite nite, now.

Thought I might stay up late enough to see Bear ... guess that will have to wait until another night.

Re:
Once again, Bear is all alone. Poor Purple Coo was sad and alone too, so Coo and I had a delightful chat on the front porch.

Earlier this evening, I was at our daughter's place, keeping her puppies company for a while. She is holidaying in Cuba. We might have trouble getting her back to Canada.

Tiddles and the clock have been minded by the Minder. I don't mind looking after them; gives me something to do at night. (It's just turned 10:00 p.m. local time.)

As I'm not really a night Owl, I think I'll head to bed.

Sleep well good Owls. G'night, Purple Coo.
