Cowart's Common Room

Raining very heavily here at the moment, my son rang to say he had arrived in Cornwall with his partner, and that the journey just took five hours from London, very wet weather there too apparantly.

I have the kettle boiling so just off to make a brew, see you later Owly's.

If you can't sleep and there are others on line then have a natter here.

Night Night, & Sweet Dreams.

Frances's Avatar Hello Camilla, from a rainy New York.

Do not panic about Christmas preparations. It is fun to do a little bit each day or so, and eventually see the result take form.

My vacation days continue to be quite wonderful.

Even with today's rain, I had a lovely time meeting one of our fellow bloggers ... Arosebyanyothername! Yes, Rosie is in NYC along with a great friend of hers, and we all managed to have lunch together in my neighborhood.

As many of you all have discovered, it is fun to meet face to face someone whom you feel you already know.

Of course, we all took photos, and when Rosie gets home, I will check with her about posting the clicks from my camera.

Later this afternoon, I returned to work on my Christmas cards, and added a few rounds of knitting to my socks project.

Off for a brief site tour. See you soon. xo

Camilla's Avatar Hello Frances, thank you.

Lots always worry about the food side of the cooking, my HL usually buys a turkey sooo big one can hardly get it in the oven. I shall be having a veggie meal this year myself and son's partner will be the same.

Pleased to hear you had a wonderful day Frances, meeting Rosie along with her friend for yummy lunch, how lovely.!!

I shall very much look foward to seeing those pics of you all in NYC.

Painted cards by hand are really special, I have no craft for painting unfortunately, so I did buy a few NSPCC ones recently. Would those socks be patterned or stripey I wonder, even if they are plain ones they will be fab I'm sure.

Hello Patsy.!

Frances's Avatar Back for a quick stop off on our perch.

Camilla, the socks are being knit from varicolored, painted yarn, 4 ply. So, the variation takes its own form, sort of random, not stripy, but almost tweedy so far.

Just trying to picture that turkey that just barely fits in the oven. Maybe that is a tradition, too?

I usually send off a check to some charity, like Doctors Without Borders, in lieu of spending money for our traditional Thanksgiving dinner. (It is always the 4th Thursday in November, so this year will be the 26th.)

Camilla's Avatar Hello Frances, just back from checking my messages.

I love tweedy, even tweed trousers too.

All I can say is Frances............. poor turkey.!!

Kind gesture dear Frances of the cheque for charity, I support charity's too, mainly childrens ones.

I am in need of some caffeine, so will quickly pop the kettle on, but will soon be off for the slumber...... back in a jiffy.

Frances's Avatar Poor turkey, indeed, Camilla!

If you are getting sleepy, why not just skip that last bit of caffeine, and close those eyes.

I've just realized it is already Friday the 13th over there.

Hoping that superstitions are just that, and all our owls will have a peaceful sleep, and a terrific Friday.

I am going to log off now myself. Pick up my book.

See you all tomorrow. xo

Camilla's Avatar This little owl is off to bed, enjoy your day of vacation tomorrow Frances, those gorgeous tweedy socks will soon be ready.

Nighty night Frances, and to all owls hopping on the perch later. Hoping the dear Bear may be resting, so hope the Chef Minder will not mind me helping with Tiddles, she has been gently wound, clock has been put outside the CR door for his moonglow......... nearly forgot, Tiddles did have her half-half.

Sweetest of dreams, see you tomorrow Frances.

Once again, Bear is alone. Tiddles and clock are good. Bear is good (well, as well as can be expected).

Sleep well, good Owls.
