Cowart's Common Room
Nerves setting in

Well, tomorrow is the day I have my needle biopsy and I've managed to put it to the back of my mind over the last few days, since the dreaded call on Thursday. But, today it's all I can think about.

I know that it IS really the best thing to do so that at least some answers can be found - I am fed up with the constant retesting and journey back and forth to London. At least they'll get in there and sample the lung tissue properly but, boy, am I terrified. Stupid really, I know. They inject some local anaesthetic under the skin then pop you in the CT machine, arms above your head. The doctor then uses the image on the screen to find the shadows and inserts the needle directly - easy, said the doctor on the phone. Ha! Would rather be knocked out, thank you.

So, if everyone can form an orderly queue with their rubber mallets at 9am tomorrow morning, I would be in your debt forever...............xx

Ivy's Avatar I soo feel for you. Can't you ask for a sedative? I know that doctors here give them to very nervous patients ( well a stiff upper lip certainly is not a very helpful there) Good luck xxx

Fennie's Avatar You be awash in purple vibes. Serenely afloat. From where you can safely contemplate that worse things happen at sea. Good luck, but if all else fails I'll be ready with the rubber mallet.

Woozle, I have had a few needle and core biopsies in recent months, and the best way I found of dealing with it, is to try and relax and deep breath through the discomfort of it. Failing that I sing, it is relaxing and distracting believe it or not.

Hugely scary I know, but you will get through it xxxx

Big Hugs for tomorrow.

Westerwitch's Avatar The important thing to remember is that it won't last very long - it will be slightly uncomfortable BUT over before you know it. The worst bit for you now is the waiting . . . so try and keep yourself very busy today . . . lots of purple rubber mallets ready to help you . . .elbows Toady out of the way and a whole cauldron of purple vibes.

Withy Brook's Avatar Masses of purple vibes on your way, continuously from now till after it is all over. I shall be standing by with my rubber mallet just in case you need it - but I don't think it will be nearly as bad as you are dreading it will be. The waiting is by far the worst part.

And like Pili says, remember Ludlow. We should be able to get at least one cup of tea at Da Grays before Christmas...
Just tell me the date.
