Cowart's Common Room
Fantasy Pet

You've chosen your family and your best friend - so who would you choose as your Fantasy Pet? Or a Fantasy Animal to have that special relationship with.

I would love Greengrasses Lurcher (Greengrass from Heartbeat), or the Lurcher from Emmerdale owned by the Dingles.

I am a hopeless rider but would have to love to have had the relationship that Red Pollard had with Sea Biscuit (horse).

Or the closeness that Eragon had with his dragon . . .ooooooo wouldn't you just LOVE to ride a dragon! Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee . . . sorry miss my dragon burnt my homework Twisted Evil

So what would your fantasy pet, or animal be.

Re:
I have mentioned Brumbies before, and as a child I spent my life wishing I was running wild with them in the Australian outback. I rode from an early age, and had some great relationships with horses along the way, Marco, a palomino cob, was my favourite, mostly because he was very like one of my horsey Brumby heroes.

As an adult, I have always wished I could own an Owl, more especially a Tawny or a Scops. Large Cats; A Lion, a Leopard, or a Tiger is high on the list too. I could never own any of them though, the idea of caging such animals appals me, I am attracted by their incredible beauty and fantasies wont harm them.

Re:
Fantasy fantasy pet would be a fire lizard (from the Dragonriders of Pern book)

Real fantasy pet just has to be a Weedy Sea Dragon.

Re:
Fennie's Avatar Oh please, one of those cuddly little vampires from Romania, you know, the sort that don't suck blood but the juice out of fruits and spend most of their time curled up asleep in a furry little nest in your bottom drawer. They look rather like gremlins and squeak like the bread machine telling you the bread is ready and you can train them to sit on your shoulder and 'talk' to you while you are doing the housework. Very clean animals and quite unafraid though they get lonely at times and look longingly at the cupboard where you keep the plum brandy and your pictures of Romania.

Re:
Arosebyanyothername's Avatar Well, obviously, Grommit. Or Timmy from the 'Famous Five' books. Both more intelligent than me.

Withy Brook's Avatar Donny (the story of an Exmore Pony). Lurved that pony to distraction as a child.
Black Beauty, as a young horse.
The Bear of little brain - Winnie the Pooh of course.
And I am sure there have been many more over the years.

Re:
Salle de Bain's Avatar Patsy....that link brought tears to my eyes....so nostalgic...I'd completely forgotten about it, and I was such a huge fan!!

That programme combined with Champion the Wonder Horse (Saturday mornings....still remember all the words of the theme tune), Roy Rogers, Black Beauty, National Velvet and the Flicker books laid the foundations.

My fantasy is well and truly realised every morning when I look at the beautiful beasts in our yard....I feel so lucky.

Re:
Faith's Avatar Oh what a lovely fantasy!

I'd have Paddington as a sort of pet/companion, and talking of dragons, I'd have Custard - the realio trulio little pet dragon belonging to Belinda in the rhyme (know it?)..... and Wrolf, the lion, and Zachariah, the blue-blooded cat from The Little White Horse..... and, ooh, loads - tortoises and a special white dove that flew to my hand, always and came into the house but didnt mess inside.....

Btw one of the most popular toys this year is some sort of hamster but I can't remember the name of it!
