RE
Camilla's Avatar Hi Silverhead,

I did this yesterday, cleared out my desk and drawers, and found an assortment of pens that have been used up and no use anymore. I am quite picky when it comes to pens, like to write with a fountain pen to write letters and envelopes, but keep biro's for just jotting down things such as shopping lists etc..

I love pencils, hate throwing them out, so always keep a sharpener on hand, have quite a few pencils including some nice ones given with presents and stationary sets, some from Puffin books that have the writing on of....selected letters, and selected essays and poems.

I think we all do it Silverhead, seem to have a bulging supply of pens and pencils tucked away in drawers, me too.

Re:
I love writing with a fountain pen as well. Sadly, my penmanship has deteriorated over the years, to the point where my English looks more like Hebrew. Hence I've been reduced to typing. (Which I learned just prior to becoming a reporter.)

But I still have my collection of fountain pens, and still try to use them from time to time.

Oh, how sadly fallen! Sad

Re:
Frances's Avatar I do love fountain pens, and have a few. Hardly get a chance to use them nowadays.

At the shop we have the opposite phenomenon. The disappearance of whatever it was that you happen to need just NOW. It could be a biro, a pencil with a functioning eraser, new receipt tape for the cash register, the correct sized battery for whatever you need right Now. Oh I could go on. How these necessities do travel through time and space. Calling Dr Who!

Re:
Faith's Avatar Oh Frances I have EXACTLY the same - I wrap up a lot of parcels for ebay and whether I need the sellotape or the stapler or a pen RIGHT NOW it's the one thing that's missing!

Re:
Fennie's Avatar Wire coathangers breed in my cupboards, though strangely plastic ones don't.
